Called "the first great musical of the 21st century" by The Toronto Star, Green Day's American Idiot is the story of lifelong friends forced to choose between their dreams and the safety of the suburbs. The musical, based on Green Day's groundbreaking album and rock opera, is described by The New York Times as a "wonderfully raucous and gorgeously wrought art opera...emotionally charged and as moving as anything on Broadway!"
The studio album, released in 2004, has sold more than 14 million copies and won a Grammy for Best Rock Album. The musical was nominated for a Tony for Best Musical in 2010 and received two Tony Awards for best set design and lighting design,. The original Broadway cast recording received the 2010 Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album. Smash hits include: "Boulevard of Broken Dreams,' "Holiday," "Give Me Novacaine," "Too Much Too Soon" and "21 Guns."
