Amy Speace has been quietly but steadily making waves in the Americana/folk world for a few years now, and in the journey, gaining support from the likes of Judy Collins, Nanci Griffith, Guy Clark and other icons in the songwriting community. While pursuing a life in theater, this self-described “late bloomer” wrote her first songs on a pawn shop guitar. Collins signed Amy to her own Wildflower Records label in 2006, releasing Songs for Bright Street to critical acclaim. That record spent months at the top of the Folk and Americana Roots charts. NPR named the title cut from The Killer In Me “Song of the Day” in 2009. In 2010, AAA radio station WFUV named Amy’s song “The Weight of the World” #4 in a list of the “Best Folk Songs of the Decade. A new CD How To Sleep in a Stormy Boat was released on April 16.
