Back by popular demand, the world-renowned taiko ensemble TaikOz return to Glen Street Theatre with a brand new show Taikoz In Concert from 12 to 16 August. Featuring the dynamism and drama of the taiko and the soulful melodies of the bamboo shakuhachi flute, Taikoz In Concert draws on Taikoz' repertoire of internationally acclaimed original music.

Performing in the beautiful acoustic of Glen Street Theatre, the full dynamic range of the Taikoz ensemble will be felt by all. From the softest, sonorous whisper of Grand Master's Riley Lee's shakuhachi flute, to the immense boom of six grand Odaiko drums, Taikoz' intense sound and emotion will be sure to fill the room.

Joining Taikoz exclusively at Glen Street will be explosive young taiko artist from the USA Joseph Small, and the 10-member Taiko no Wa, an internationally award-winning ensemble drawn from Taikoz' top students. The combined forces will see no fewer than 17 players on stage.

TaikOz's performances are based on the Japanese tradition of wadaiko with a contemporary focus. Their music has garnered international praise for its originality and their performance aesthetic is best described as highly theatrical and mesmeric.

Audiences are invited to learn the art of Taiko with free intimate drumming workshops. Simply purchase a ticket to TaikOz in Concert and contact Glen Street Theatre to secure your place.

'TaikOz astound and mesmerise with its musicianship. They show what cross-cultural collaboration at its best can achieve.' Courier Mail

"More than a bunch of drummers...TaikOz can soar in hypnotic waves of rhythm". Sydney Morning Herald
