The Dayton Performing Arts Alliance (DPAA) held its 2022-2023 Annual Board of Trustees Meeting in the Community Room of the Dayton Metro Library's Main branch in downtown Dayton on the afternoon of June 15, 2023. Board of Trustees President Ed Tomme and DPAA President & CEO Patrick Nugent presented the report to approximately 55 stakeholders.

The Cleveland Orchestra presented its 19th annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Service Awards to LaJean Ray, Dr. William Henry Caldwell, and the MLK Community Chorus on Sunday, January 15. The awards ceremony kicked off The Cleveland Orchestra's 43rd annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Concert at Severance Music Center.

The Lincoln Theatre will host the return of the highly acclaimed Central State University Chorus in “Sounds of Blackness: A Celebration of African American Music,” highlighting the contributions of African American composers and arrangers.

Ro Nita Hawes-Saunders, CEO of the internationally acclaimed Dayton Contemporary Dance Company (DCDC), announced her intention to retire, effective December 31, 2022.  Ro Nita concludes an eighteen-year career at DCDC. 

In elevation of the principle of the commonality of humanity through music, the Lincoln Theatre has curated a special performance of spiritually uplifting music from the celebrated choirs of two historically Black colleges and universities, the Kentucky State University Concert Choir and the Grammy-nominated Central State University Chorus.

Oklahoma City Repertory Theatre remembers and celebrates one of their founding members MICHAEL JONES, who passed away a year ago. An Emmy winner and recipient of the Oklahoma Governor’s Arts Award, Michael was a co-founder and Artistic Associate at OKC Rep. While Michael was a pillar of the OKC theatre community, he also worked all over the country. Michael touched the lives and hearts of so many he worked with. The OKC theatre community remembers Michael Jones.

Launched in the fall of 2019, the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra's CSO Proof series is an incubator for experimenting with new ideas on how we experience classical music. Designed to challenge the constructs of a traditional concert, every element is up for grabs. Programs feature collaborations with a wide range of musicians and other artists not typically associated with orchestras; performances are apt to happen in open or unexpected spaces; multi-media effects are often employed; and, the audience is situated closer to the action, breaking the fourth wall and encouraging a more immersive relationship with the musicians and the action.

Collaboraction Theatre Company will launch its 2019-20 mainstage season at Kennedy-King College (KKC) at 63rd and Halsted in the college's 292-seat, state-of-the-art mainstage theater, with its fourth annual Peacebook Festival, Thursday through Saturday, August 15-17.

Each year colleges across the country come up with an odd list of commencement speakers, from Kermit the Frog (Southampton University) to Mike Tyson (Central State University), to offer pearls of wit and advice to their college graduates.
