It's summertime but class is in session at West Coast Players with THE SCHOOL FOR LIES by David Ives, directed by Susan Demers and running July 21 - 23, 2017 (Friday and Saturday @ 8 pm; Sunday Matinee @ 2 pm).

From David Ives, the brilliant author of All in the Timing, comes a farce set in Paris of 1666. This unlikely story revolves around Celimene, an attractive young window so known for her satire that she's being sued for it. Living off of the favors of shallow suitors no match for her mind or sharp tongue, Celimene has until now evaded love. That changes with the arrival of Frank, a traveler from England whose clever wit and repartee seems to be a match for her own.

This very clever farce is written in contemporary couplets (some of which morph into rap) and is based on Molière's The Misanthrope. Just how much "truth" or plain speaking can any of us stand - can society stand?

Presented by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc.
