Another thrilling and thought-provoking production at The Arden Theatre delivers an evening of something quite different. ASSASSINS is an evening of one of the tightest ensembles of dedicated performers that this reviewer has seen in quite some time.

Sondheim's macabre musical Sweeney Todd, arrives in Brazil. The show opened on March in Sao Paulo for a short season and takes place on the 033 Rooftop of Teatro Santander. With direction by Ze Henrique de Paula, the Brazilian production stars Rodrigo Lombardi (Sweeney), Andrezza Massei (Mrs. Lovett), and Mateus Ribeiro (Tobias Ragg).

The Media Theatre, located at 104 East State Street in the beautiful suburb of Media, PA, has 'Sweeney Todd' as its 2018-19 Broadway Series Season opener now through Oct. 28. Directed by the theater's Artistic Director Jesse Cline, the show features a cast of professional actors from New York City, Philadelphia, and the surrounding region. Ben Kapilow music directs.

Night after night, audiences rose to their feet for the stunning musical thriller. The original production was directed by William Pullinsi and starred Robert Cuccioli as the Phantom and Glory Crampton as Christine Daee. 'PHANTOM' returned to our stage in 1996 and 2007 directed and choreographed by Tom Polum, who had been in the original production. This extraordinary piece will grace our stage once again with Tom Polum at the helm.

The company of Barrow Street Theater's immersive mounting of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd celebrated one year of baking up scares this week. The newest cast members Thom Sesma, Sally Ann Triplett, Zachary Noah Piser, Billy Harrigan Tighe, DeLaney Westfall were in attendance to send Sweeney into its next year of murder, mayhem, and meat pies! The New York Philharmonic will soon present a staged production of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, March 5-8, 2014. As previously announced, Sweeney Todd will star bass-baritone Bryn Terfel in the title role and Academy Award-winning actress Emma Thompson as Mrs. Lovett in her Philharmonic debut, New York stage debut, and first time performing the role. Jeff Blumenkrantz will portray The Beadle; Tony Award winner Christian Borle, Pirelli (marking his Philharmonic debut); Kyle Brenn, Tobias Ragg (debut); Jay Armstrong Johnson, Anthony Hope (debut); Erin Mackey, Johanna (debut); and Olivier Award winner Philip Quast, Judge Turpin (debut and New York stage debut). Moonlight Stage Productions' 33rd summer season continues with the Broadway hit YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, presented professionally for the first time in Southern California, with performances now through September 7. The Ogunquit Playhouse is the first fully staged Regional theatre in the nation to produce an all new production of Sunset Boulevard starring Stefanie Powers as Norma Desmond, July 28 through August 14, complete with the Tony Nominated costumes by the Academy Award winning designer, Anthony Powell and an all new set designed exclusively for the Ogunquit stage by Todd Ivins. This musical is based on the film noir classic by Billy Wilder that starred Gloria Swanson and William Holden. It is the winner of seven Tony Awards including Best Musical and features some of Andrew Lloyd Webber's loveliest melodies including, 'With One Look' and 'As If We Never Said Goodbye.'

Transport Group, the winner of a special 2007 Drama Desk Award and 2007 and 2010 OBIE Awards, introduced the cast of the New York premiere of See Rock City & Other Destinations, music by Brad Alexander; book and lyrics by Adam Mathias; directed by Artistic Director Jack Cummings III, yesterday, June 21. BroadwayWorld was on hand to meet the company!

While in New Brunswick, NJ the National Tour of Hairspray received a surprise visit from Nikki Blonsky. Blonsky, star of the 2007 film version of Hairspray, attended the Saturday matinee performance. 'I loved the show, it was amazing!' Nikki Blonsky said.

Sarah Uriarte Berry, Tony winner Chuck Cooper, award-winning vocalist Scott Coulter, and Broadway favorites Jason Graae and Max von Essen joined Emily Skinner, Jeff McCarthy, Terri Klausner, Noah Racey, Lorin Latarro and Melinda Sullivan at The Town Hall to present the final production of its 2007-2008 Broadway by the Year series, Broadway By The Year 1979 on Monday, June 16th. Broadway By The Year is created, written and hosted by Scott Siegel for The Town Hall, now in it's 8th season.

The 2007-2008 Reprise Theatre Company season will end with 'Flora, the Red Menace,' John Kander and lyricist Fred Ebb's first Broadway musical. Eden Espinosa stars as Flora, opposite Manoel Felciano as Harry.

The highly-anticipated movie-musical adaptation of Sweeney Todd held an exclusive Hollywood premiere on Wednesday, December 5 at the Paramount Theater. For limited national release December 21, 2007 and wide January 11, 2008.
