Vinora Epp and Steven Epp new play ORLANDO: A Rhapsody opened at The Tank last week. Inspired by Virginia Woolf’s novel “Orlando: A Biography,' the play was created by Vinora and her father Steven who used Woolf’s novel as a jumping off point. The pair also co-star in the production. 9 to 5:  The Musical is a theatre piece based on the 1980 hit film, with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton and a book by Patricia Resnick.  It is now on stage at Chagrin Valley Little Theatre.

Birdland once again presented singer/songwriter Victoria Shaw, who returned to the stage with another one of her award-winning shows, “Under the Covers” on Monday, March 18. Victoria’s special guests were Peter Cincotti, Jim Brickman, Billy Stritch, Josh Turchin, Ruby Locknar, and Ava Locknar.

This was a dream of an evening of opera! It vastly exceeded expectations.

Victoria Elena (& guest singers) brought her show “Confessions of a Professional Princess” to the Greenroom 42 stage in midtown NYC. The show was a tip of the hat and homage to combining her many professional endeavors as an artist. The set list for this show was made up of some of Disney’s most iconic songs and characters.

On Monday, November 6, 2023, the Chapel at the Abbey in West Hollywood was filled with the enchanting melodies and captivating performances of some of Broadway's finest talents, all part of the special 'BROADWAY BENEFIT BASH' presented at the Musical Mondays event.  Check out photos here!

Imagine the Grimm bedtime stories presented on steroids buttressed by the occasional homage to animated motion picture favorites.  This is the basic recipe for “Into The Woods,” an imaginative and odd musical mashup of the Grimm’s tales with music, libretto, and lyrics from Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine performed at the Jewish Community Center’s fine White Theatre.

The Moorestown Theater Company transports us to Oz and back, with their enchanting 66th Summer Stage Musical, The Wizard of Oz, Youth Edition.

Norm Lewis never ceases to amaze.  What he gives an audience is a pleasure so indescribable, that I am hard pressed to find the words.  The voice is impossible.  How can this fine actor possess this magical instrument?  A bass-baritone with a superb, other wordly, upper register and a crazy range when he jumps octaves.  It’s divine.  So is his first time on the stage with the equally sublime Billy Stritch.  

Moulin Rouge! is based on the 2001 Baz Luhrmann film of the same name and originally starred Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman. Known for its somber tale and use of modern music in a vintage setting, the story and its elements translated extremely well to the stage while also being different enough to appreciate the stage musical in its own right. The updated music for a 2023 audience, a strong cast and crew, and a tale of desperate, devoted love all make this production Moulin Rouge! excel beyond the surface of the fantasy.

Birdland presented  a musical evening with Victoria Shaw, Jim Brickman and Peter Cincotti, who played “musical chairs,” performing their hits and telling the stories behind them.

Today we travel back to the early 80s with Anne Bancroft and  Mel Brooks after the final Broadway performance of Duet for One;  Mark Blum, Brooke Adams, and Ben Masters starring in the Original Off-Broadway play by Kevin Wade Key Exchange; and Philip Anglim starring in the Original Broadway play The Elephant Man.

Caroline Gottlieb, Visible Ink Productions, and the Beverly Hills Playhouse have announced a new production of Tom Kempinski's critically-acclaimed drama Duet for One, set for a five-week run at the Beverly Hills Playhouse. Under the direction of Allen Barton, the cast will feature Mia Christou and Howard Leder. Opening is on Friday, April 12, at 8pm. The regular running schedule is Friday and Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 7pm through May 12.

We're seeing double! Last night at the Broadhurst Theatre, history was made when the original Anya, Liz Callaway, reunited with Broadway's, Christy Altomare, for a special duet performance of 'Journey to the Past' at curtain call. 

A work rarely heard in its entirety, the complete Mass in B Minor by J.S. Bach was performed at the Church of the Holy Trinity, the 'Bach' church on the Upper West Side.

INTO THE WOODS may be one of the most popular musicals for those skilled in the art of presenting musical theater comedy. So much so that when Cupcake Studios held auditions for the 17 character roles in the show, over 1,000 people submitted online and in person to be in the show at the North Hollywood theater location. So it is no wonder each and every person in the show creates magic when they take the stage! Kudos to Michael Pettenato, the group's Artistic Director who directs and produces this musical extravaganza, for selecting the best of the best to bring such excellence in all aspects of the production.

The UK tour of Tom Kempinski's award-winning play, DUET FOR ONE, starring Belinda Lang as Stephanie Abrahams and Oliver Cotton as Dr Feldmann, opened at Birmingham Repertory Theatre on 22 September and will continue to tour through to 18 November 2017. On Sunday August 9th, Imagine Productions presented a cabaret called Let's Duet Again! Featuring a night of pop duets and musical theatre. Directed by Ryan Stem and co-hosted by Doug Joseph and Nick Hardin. With performances featuring Alex Almeida, Caleb Baker, Corinne Buuk, Ed Eblin, Cassie Gress, Nick Hardin, Chris Johnson, Doug Joseph, Sharon Kibe, Jesika Lehner, Tahrea Maynard-Johnson, Chase McCants, Michael Quinichett, Elena Reinert, Keith Robinson, Ryan Stem, Steve Stumphauzer, Rachel Verdi, and Abby Zeszotek.

Just last week, The New York Pops performed an inaugural concert at its new summer home, Forest Hills Stadium, with two-time Tony Award winner Sutton Foster, joined by former Broadway co-stars Colin Donnell and Megan McGinnis. Among other numbers, she performed John Denver's 'Sunshine on my Shoulders,' Cole Porter's 'I Get a Kick Out of You,' and will reprise her touching duet 'Flight' with McGinnis. Donnell will perform a duet with Foster, in addition to 'On the Streets of Dublin,' from Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty's A Man of No Importance. Feinstein's at Loews Regency presents the New York debut duet engagement of two-time Emmy and five-time Grammy-nominated entertainer Michael Feinstein, and acclaimed Grammy-nominated vocalist Marilyn Maye, through September 22.
