Martin McDonagh's new comedy Hangmen will begin previews on Friday, February 28, 2020, and officially open on Thursday, March 19, 2020, for a strictly limited twenty-week engagement through Saturday, July 18, 2020 at Broadway's Golden Theatre (252 West 45th Street).

Long Wharf Theatre presents Pride and Prejudice, written by Kate Hamill, adapted from the classic Jane Austen novel, and directed by Jess McLeod. Performances begin on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 for a limited run through December 22, 2019. Opening night is set for Wednesday, December 4, 7:30 PM on the Claire Tow Stage in the C. Newton Schenck III Theatre (222 Sargent Drive, New Haven, CT).

It's October 4, 1965, and Pope Paul VI is spending 14 hours in New York City, marking the first visit by a reigning pope to the United States. Millions line the streets to greet him and zookeeper Artie Shaughnessy, a wannabe Hollywood songwriter with big dreams and no discernible talent, joins the throngs in the hope that a papal blessing will help propel him out of Queens, away from his mentally ill wife, Bananas, and into a new life in Los Angeles with his girlfriend, Bunny Flingus. 

Complete with bison, barn and Broadway hits, Hackmatack Playhouse will open its 2018 summer season  Friday, June 15, with an hysterically funny farce based in 1934 Cleveland.

The Old Globe's 2017-2018 Season continues with today's announcement of the complete cast and creative team for the Southern California debut of A Thousand Splendid Suns, Ursula Rani Sarma's sweeping and deeply moving theatrical production based on the best-selling book by Khaled Hosseini (The Kite Runner). Directed by Carey Perloff and presented in association with American Conservatory Theater, A Thousand Splendid Suns will run May 12 - June 17, 2018 on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage, Old Globe Theatre, Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Tickets start at $30.00 and are on sale to the general public now. Previews run May 12-16. Opening night is Thursday, May 17 at 8:00 p.m.

Coronado Playhouse concludes its 2017 Season with Fly By Night, opening Friday, November 10th and running until Sunday, December 10th, 2017 at Coronado Playhouse. San Diego's favorite Theatre Photographer paid the Playhouse a visit and captured some beautiful moments from the production which opens this weekend. With a non-traditional, charming and catchy score by Will Connolly and Michael Mitnick, this darkly comic rock-fable, portrays a melancholy sandwich maker's humdrum life and how it is intersected by two entrancing sisters, weaving into its overlapping love stories a resonating message about how the 'invisible universe' connects us all. A sweeping ode to young love set against the backdrop of the northeast blackout of 1965, Fly By Night is an original and enchanting tale about making your way and discovering hope in a world beset by darkness.

Midnight at The Never Get, the award-winning and critically-acclaimed musical hit of last summer's New York Musical Festival, is enjoying its New England premiere this summer in a co-production by Visceral Entertainment (Michael Chase Gosselin and Tim Sulka) and Dustin Sparks Productions. San Francisco Opera's 2016-17 Season opens Friday, September 9 with a gala performance of Umberto Giordano's Andrea Chenier in a new production by Sir David McVicar. Company Music Director Nicola Luisotti leads a stellar cast, including three international stars making their San Francisco Opera debuts in the demanding lead roles: South Korean tenor Yonghoon Lee in the title role, Italian soprano Anna Pirozzi as Maddalena di Coigny and Georgian baritone George Gagnidze as Carlo Gerard. The opening night festivities are distinguished by San Francisco Opera Guild's glamorous Opera Ball 2016: La Revolution et L'Amour and BRAVO! Club's Annual Opening Night Gala. The opening of the Company's 94th season also marks the beginning of Matthew Shilvock's inaugural season as General Director. Shilvock is the seventh General Director in the Company's history.

Celebrating its 10th year in Downtown Pittsfiled, the award-winning Barrington Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Julianne Boyd and Managing Director Tristan Wilson, presents the Tony Award-winning musical Man of La Mancha from June 10 through July 11 on the Boyd-Quinson Mainstage. The production opened last night, and BroadwayWorld was there to capture the opening!

Broadway fans had plenty of reasons to celebrate this year, with dozens of shows having opened since January, hundreds of actors having made their debuts, and many more having returned to the stage for critically acclaimed performances. Not all news was good though, as we also suffered a loss of an incredible amount of talent. Below, BroadwayWorld sends a fond farewell to those who passed away in 2014.

TACT/The Actors Company Theatre, the critically-acclaimed and Drama Desk nominated Off-Broadway company, presents the first New York revival in 30 years of The Killing of Sister George, the controversial 1964 play by Frank Marcus. The first production of the company's 22nd Season will be directed by TACT Company Member Drew Barr, who directed the company's Fall 2012 production of Brian Friel's Lovers. Performances begin at Theatre Row's Beckett Theatre (410 West 42nd Street - between 9th & 10th Avenues) on Tuesday, September 23, 2014. Opening night is set for Tuesday, October 7 at 7:30pm. The anticipation of celebrating the 50th anniversary of that memorable night, August 23, 1964 when I saw The Beatles live at the Hollywood Bowl for the first time, had me excited for days, knowing this time I would be able to hear the music and celebrate it along with a sold out Hollywood Bowl audience eager to experience some of the best music ever written. And I was not disappointed. The show ROCKED!

The Odd Couple (Female Version) opened at the Forum Theatre last night. The production is a fundraiser for the theatre outside of the regular season of shows, and the cast and crew donated most or all of their time and talents.

Robert Bills Productions will present THE ODD COUPLE (female version), Neil Simon's 1985 adaptation of his Tony Award-winning Broadway comedy, at Greenhouse Theater Center, 2257 N. Lincoln Ave, running now through Sunday, November 10. 'Felix' and 'Oscar' are now 'Florence' and 'Olive' in this riotously funny play centered around two wildly mismatched roommates living together in New York City. Robert Bills directs. Woodie King Jr's New Federal Theatre kicks off its 44th season with the first play of 'The Ed Bullins Project' - two revivals from his 'Twentieth Century Cycle of Plays' - IN THE WINE TIME, to be followed by The Fabulous Miss Marie this spring. In The Wine Time, directed by Mansoor Najee-ullah, will begin performances October 25th at Castillo Theater (543 West 42nd Street), continuing through November 24th. Opening Night is set for Thursday November 7th.

Quasimodo, the last great unproduced musical by Oliver! composer Lionel Bart, is getting its World Premiere, 50 years after it was written. In a major coup for the King's Head Theatre in London, Quasimodo will play for a 4-week season from last night, 20 March through 13 April 2013. Appomattox, a sprawling political epic by Christopher Hampton taking place in 1865 and 1965 at the close of the American Civil War and the pivotal Civil Rights Era, opened Friday, October 5 at the Guthrie Theater to continue the Hampton Celebration. The play runs until November 11 on the Guthrie's McGuire Proscenium Stage, and is directed by David Esbjornson (Broadway/London: Driving Miss Daisy, A Few Good Men; Broadway: The Goat or Who is Sylvia?, The Ride Down Mt. Morgan; Guthrie: The Great Gatsby, Resurrection Blues). Check out photos from opening night below!

After years of playing thousands of venues from San Francisco to Savannah to Sydney, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons will celebrate the their 50th anniversary at the Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway) in an all new concert production for a limited 7 performance engagement from Friday, October 19 through Saturday, October 27, 2012.
