Brooklyn-Based Dance Company Inclined Dance Project Enjoys Spring SuccessBrooklyn-Based Dance Company Inclined Dance Project Enjoys Spring Success
by BWW News Desk - Mar 18, 2015

What. A. Crazy. Month! Inclined is soaring on adrenaline and joy right now...we had such an incredible Spring Season! Between reaching our Indiegogo Campaign goal, our momentous NYC show presented by The Series, our travels up to Boston, and our SOLD-OUT shows at The Dance Complex in Cambridge, we could not be more happy, grateful, and excited about what we have achieved. Inclined connected with so many amazing artists, dancers, producers, photographers, and videographers both in NYC and in Boston, and we made a wonderful new friend in our Boston split-bill partner Intimations Dance. We have had a truly amazing time. Inclined reached some major milestones this spring, but we could not have done it without a lot of help. We are so indebted to our amazing donors and audiences, and to The Series and The Dance Complex for wanting to present and sponsor our work. Thank you everyone for the incredible support, love, and enthusiasm that has been sent our way. We are so thrilled by our first major Spring Performance Season, and as a Director, I have never been more proud of my incredibly talented dancers. These ladies are nothing short of amazing. So, what's next for Inclined!? We are taking a much deserved breather, but we have some exciting things coming up for this summer and into the fall...so stay tuned. We're on a roll. Thank you again everyone for your generous support this spring. (more...)

At 60-something-years-old, one can accurately describe Tovah Feldshuh as what plucky is when it grows up. Feldshuh's mother Lily died at 103 having lived, one gathers, like the character her daughter played in Pippin: 'Oh, it's time to start livin'/Time to take a little from this world we're given/Time to take time, cause spring will turn to fall/In just no time at all . . .' Later in her 54 Below show Aging Is Optional (which Feldshuh presents again tonight at 7 pm), we all sing the chorus, though no one with more gusto than the artist who delivers its lyric like a battle cry. For some reason, people have brought a great many little girls to see WICKED. SOUND OFF Special Edition: Little Shop Of Horrors! 10 Devilish & Demonic Plays & Musicals To DevourSOUND OFF Special Edition: Little Shop Of Horrors! 10 Devilish & Demonic Plays & Musicals To Devour
by Pat Cerasaro - Apr 22, 2015

While Broadway is heaven for theatergoers around the world, especially when the season reaches its fever pitch as it is right now, it can also be hell in the right hands. And, that's a good thing. As the exceedingly well-received new play HAND TO GOD which opened earlier this month proves, audiences adore a good scare - particularly when it is supported by a rich and dynamic dramatic basis upon which the horror-show can play out, which HAND TO GOD undoubtedly has in spades (and pitchforks). Needless to say, many of the most popular and successful musicals of all time have also dealt with demonic presences - even if in the case of Broadway's two biggest hits, they are misunderstood monsters. Indeed, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA remains the longest-running show in Broadway history, approaching its 20th year on the Great White Way, while Oz-themed witch-centric musical mega-hit WICKED remains one of the hottest tickets in town. With this week's news of Hollywood heartthrob Jake Gyllenhaal starring in an upcoming Encores! special limited-run production of cult hit and famous Off-Broadway mainstay LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS - not to mention the big news of a brand new small screen version of the ultimate cult movie musical, THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW, being revived for a new generation - it seems more than merely appropriate to turn our attention to the scariest, bloodiest and best horror-themed musicals to date.
