Sheffield Theatres today announces the cast for its major new revival of Irving Berlin's Annie Get Your Gun. Paul Foster directs Anna-Jane Casey as Annie Oakley and Ben Lewis as Frank Butler, with Nicolas Colicos (Buffalo Bill), Mike Denman (Pawnee Bill), Lauren Hall (Winnie Tate), Matthew Malthouse (Foster Wilson), Timothy Quinlan (Charlie Davenport), Cleve September (Tommy Keeler), Maggie Service (Dolly Tate), Karl Seth (Chief Sitting Bull), and completing the ensemble, Josh Andrews, Ronan Burns, Emma Caffrey, Matthew Croke, Omari Douglas, Rosie Fletcher, Melissa James, Jasmine Kerr, Natasha Mould, Jak Skelly, Leah West and Emma Woods (ensemble and Dance Captain). WICKED Announces Ticket Lottery For South Bend Performances

A day-of-performance lottery for a limited number of orchestra seats will be held for WICKED, which comes to South Bend at The Morris Performing Arts Center with performances from September 7-18, 2016. Broadway Theatre League is proud to present WICKED as part of the 2016-17 Broadway in South Bend Series.  Two and one-half hours prior to each performance, people who present themselves at The Morris Center box office will have their names placed in a lottery drum; thirty minutes later, names will be drawn for a limited number of orchestra seats at $25 each, cash only.  This lottery is available only in-person at the box office, with a limit of two tickets per person.  Lottery participants must have a valid photo ID when submitting their entry form and, if chosen, when purchasing tickets.  (more...)

There's something about Tonya Pewitt, a certain, almost indefinable, something that makes her an ideal musical theater leading lady (perhaps, we admit, that's a dated term in these politically correct times – we are, after all, in the 21st century and the election of the first woman president of the United States seems imminent – but in regard to Ms. Pewitt, we use the term affectionately, respectfully and even reverently), attributes that she has accumulated, if you will, in a lifetime spent as a fan of classic Broadway and film musicals. She's charming and oh-so-engaging, beautifully alive onstage in a way only great musical theater stars can be when the follow spot hits them upon their first entrance. (more...)

MCCC's Kelsey Theatre Announces 2016-17 Season

Mercer County Community College's (MCCC's) Kelsey Theatre has announced its upcoming season and it's a blockbuster by any measure - packed with Broadway hits, family favorites, special holiday performances, and shows for the younger set. Says M. Kitty Getlik, Kelsey's Artistic Director, 'As the college celebrates its 50th anniversary, we have created a lineup worthy of that milestone.' She notes the major Broadway shows on this year's schedule including 'Miss Saigon,' Lin Manuel-Miranda's 'In the Heights,' 'Billy Elliot, The Musical,' and Disney's 'A Little Mermaid.' Rounding out the schedule are comedies, dance and the Kelsey Kids Series, offering six shows for the younger set. PlayFest 2017, the college's - and the state's - very first new play festival for current and former community college students takes place in March. (more...)

Elementary Schools Selected for Disney Musicals in Schools Program with Dr. Phillips

Dr. Phillips Center Florida Hospital School of the Arts announces the four local area elementary schools that have been selected to participate in the inaugural Disney Musicals in Schools program. Participating in the 2016 – 2017 school year are Bonneville Elementary (Orange County), Winegard Elementary (Orange County), Lake Orienta Elementary (Seminole County) and Kissimmee Elementary (Osceola County). At an Orientation event in January 2017, these schools will select the a Disney musical of their choice from the “KIDS” licensing collection. The rehearsals will officially start in January 2017, culminating with performances the following May. (more...)

Comprising works by two luminaries of twentieth century literature, a giant of European Theatre and one of the great English novelists, the season kicks off with Winnie The Pooh creator, A A Milne's 1921 theatrical work The Dover Road, which runs from September 6 to October 1 and is directed by Nichola McAuliffe. The Dover Road, which was first performed in 1921, is a light- hearted comedy set in a mysterious house just off the Dover Road, inhabited by the enigmatic Mr Latimer.
