A new play by Conor McPherson

May 1822, rural Ireland. The defrocked Reverend Berkeley arrives at the crumbling former glory of Mount Prospect House to accompany seventeen-year-old Hannah to England. She is to be married off to a Marquis in order to resolve the debts of her motherís estate. However, compelled by the strange voices that haunt his beautiful young charge and a fascination with the psychic current that pervades the house, Berkeley proposes a sťance, the consequences of which are catastrophic.

She says that sometimes, while she plays the piano, she can hear someoneÖ singing. Or crying. I forget which.

Set around a haunted house hemmed in by a restive, starving populace, Conor McPhersonís new play weaves Irelandís troubled colonial history into a transfixing story about the search for love, the transcendental and the circularity of time. His last production for the National was the Tony Award-winning The Seafarer.

All of you have a shared capacity to apprehend the beyond. And you perhaps more than any of them have the darkest instinct for second sight.

Robert Dunn Releases MOTORMAN
by BWW News Desk - May 23, 2016

The author, Robert Dunn, has released a new book, 'MOTORMAN,' on the independent horror publisher, Necro Publications, Bedlam Press & Weird West Books. It is a chrome plated, fuel injected horror that pulls The Veil from the dark Ozarks, a world of madness, violence, mysterious visitors, and V8 powered monsters looking for love. Referred to as both imaginative and daring he takes on familiar tropes and some extremely hard subject matter, and manages to do so in a way that made it his. He has crafted a unique and original creation that is just as well executed and entertaining as any that have come before it. Robert E. Dunn grew up in the Missouri Ozarks reading everything he could get his hands on. After college, a course of study that included philosophy, religion, theater, and film/TV communications left him qualified only to be a televangelist. When that didn't work out he turned to writing horror and fantasy fiction. He lives in Kansas City with three daughters, a young grandson, and an old dog. He tweets sometimes as @WritingDead but makes no promises how interesting those little posts will be. 'MOTORMAN' by Robert Dunn is now available in Hardcover, Trade Paperback, and eBook. BWW Review: Counter-Productions Theatre Group's World Premiere of KILL THE VIRGIN is Sexy and Smart
by Andria Tieman - May 16, 2016

KILL THE VIRGIN, the latest offering by playwright Kevin Broccoli and produced by Counter-Productions Theatre Company is a cheeky and self-aware look at the cliches in horror movies.  Thankfully, unlike the Scary Movie franchise, it manages to stay away from the gross-out humor and instead relies on quick wit and observation of the tropes that we've all seen in teen movies, and may be so accustomed to that they barely register anymore.  Excellent acting and the fine direction of Ted Clement bring this fun and twisted romp to life, and while it's still a bit clunky in parts, it's exciting, genuinely funny and awfully sexy.
