Celebrating their 50th anniversary, The Red Krayola—recently dubbed the best Texas psychedelic band in history—appear for two nights with separate concerts. Band members performing throughout the weekend include Bill Bowman (bass); Dylan Ryan (piano, drums); Tom Watson (guitar, vocals); Sandy Yang (vocals, drums); and Mayo Thompson (vocals, piano). The second play, WHAT DID YOU EXPECT?, brings us back to The Kitchen of the Gabriel family, with the country now in the midst of the general election for president. In the course of one evening in the house they grew up in, history (both theirs and our country's), money, politics, family, art and culture are chopped up and mixed together, while a meal is made around The Kitchen table. The locally sourced harvest farm dinner will be set amidst the vines of Inn of Grace Winery (50 Sweetwater Road, Glen Mills) and paired with its fine wines and will celebrate McManus' artistry and legacy. McManus is a quiet and behind-the-scenes rockstar in the culinary world - she taught Julia Child how to make the perfect croissant, is considered by many to be the mother of Philly's artisan bread movement, and currently inspires legions of young cooks at the Restaurant School at Walnut Hill. 'Thriving Through Seasons': an enjoyable and heroic tale with an optimistic theme. 'Thriving Through Seasons' is the creation of published author, Sarah Wright, who is fourteen years old from Central Pennsylvania. She is affectionately called Reesy or Cupper by her family. Sarah is constantly creating in The Kitchen and on paper. She is an animal lover who has two cats, a dog, chickens, and horses she cares for. Her family includes two brothers, one sister, and her mom and dad, Drexel and Virginia Wright. Her sister, Jenna, has multiple medical challenges that lead to paralysis. In order to cope with her family's medical battles, Sarah uses her love for writing to express her experiences, thoughts and emotions. These writings developed the story of 'Thriving Through Seasons.' Her main goal through this work and future projects is to uplift and inspire those who experienced suffering. Her passion is to lead people to Christ Jesus in a creative way so they may find hope in Him, as she did. This book challenged her to take a leap of faith to share her story with others. (more...)
