BWW Recap: 'The Watch' Arrives at Lallybroch on OUTLANDERBWW Recap: 'The Watch' Arrives at Lallybroch on OUTLANDER
by Kara McCoy - May 2, 2015

Tonight's OUTLANDER picked up right where Episode 12 left off, which was great, because last week's 'Lallybroch' ended with one doozy of a cliffhanger. Three guys pulling pistols on Jamie, the Laird of Lallybroch, mind you, in his own home! Well, I never! Before the situation can escalate any further, Jenny walks in, clearly unfazed by the scene in front of her. Not only that, but she seems to know the pistol-wielding intruders. They may be friendly, but not that friendly, because Jenny introduces Jamie to them as her cousin. Jamie catches on quickly, calling himself MacTavish. One of the newly arrived crew tells Jenny that they thought Jamie was a robber--because what else could Jamie possibly be, right?--so, heh, sorry for the misunderstanding. (more...)

BWW Recap: Liza Gets Real with Josh on YOUNGER Season FinaleBWW Recap: Liza Gets Real with Josh on YOUNGER Season Finale
by Matt Smith - Jun 9, 2015

What a whirlwind Liza has been on this season! And unfortunately for her, it doesn't get ease up in the final installment - if anything, it's even more crazy!! As she tries to patch things up with Josh (remember, she came clean with him at the end of last week's episode), she's hit with another huge roadblock at work, which puts her in another awkward position which may not only lead to legal trouble, but commands her to face compromising her moral values. Though there are no literal fireworks present, it wouldn't be inaccurate to say this episode's an explosive finale, capping off a season of blunders and hijinks as only the YOUNGER writers can create. AMNH Scientists Discover 'Missing Link' in History of TurtlesAMNH Scientists Discover 'Missing Link' in History of Turtles
by BWW News Desk - Jun 25, 2015

An international team of researchers from the United States and Germany have discovered a key missing link in the evolutionary history of turtles. The new extinct species of reptile, Pappochelys, was unearthed in an area that was an ancient lake in southern Germany about 240 million years ago during the Middle Triassic Period. Its physical traits make it a clear intermediate between two of the earliest known turtles,Eunotosaurus and Odontochelys. Features in the skull of Pappochelys also provide critical evidence that turtles are most closely related to other modern reptiles, such as lizards and snakes. Previously, scientists believed that turtles may have descended from the earliest known reptiles. Additional information is available in the June 24 issue ofNature. (more...)

After a four year run in Los Angeles, Brad T. Gottfred's hit comedy WOMEN ARE CRAZY BECAUSE MEN ARE A**HOLES is running Off-Broadway at New York City's Cherry Lane Theatre. The outlandish comedy is about four couples coming together for a brunch to celebrate the minting of a new couple. With a premise ripe for a fun-filled romantic comedy, it's a shame that the play is such a staggering disappointment. (more...)

Bailey Nolan's DUMBO to Play JACK, 8/27-29Bailey Nolan's DUMBO to Play JACK, 8/27-29
by BWW News Desk - Aug 12, 2015

Bailey Nolan (Ann Liv Young Dance Company) mounts a one-woman cabaret with a cast of ten, re-imagining 'Dumbo' as the tale of a gender-free outcast. Relayed through a series of vignettes told from the vantage point of Dumbo's mother (a retired showgirl played by Nolan herself), the extravaganza features fearless performers from her collective BabySkinGlove, including Charley Parden, Viva Soudan, Nessa Norich, Ellen Robin Rosenberg and Wesley Flash. With a pop music soundtrack that includes Mariah Carey, Johnny Cash, Florence and the Machine, Aerosmith and Joni Mitchell, Nolan and companions bridge the gap between unabashed self-indulgence and delicate nostalgia. The tale is told in two acts with a whirlwind of lightly choreographed emotions as explored on the laps of the audience. (more...)
