Final 4 weeks to see Academy Award nominee and Golden Globe winner James Franco, BAFTA and Tony Award nominee Chris O'Dowd, Leighton Meester and Tony and Olivier Award winner Jim Norton in John Steinbeck's masterpiece about chasing the American dream, Of Mice and Men. Directed by Tony Award winner Anna D. Shapiro, Of Mice and Men was the first "hit" of the spring, recouping its $3.8 million capitalization in only twelve weeks. The critically acclaimed production opened on Wednesday, April 16, and will play through Sunday, July 27, 2014 at Broadway's Longacre Theatre (220 West 48 Street). (more...)

Gift Theatre's OTHELLO Begins Performances Tomorrow

The Gift Theatre's contemporary production of Othello, starring Kareem Bandealy as Othello and artistic director and ensemble member Michael Patrick Thornton as villainous Iago, begins previews this Thursday, July 10. Directed by Jonathan Berry (Dirty), this marks The Gift Theatre's first Shakespeare production ever mounted in its intimate 40-seat theater and Berry's Shakespearean directorial debut. Founded in the aftermath of Seattle's 1962 World's Fair, Seattle Opera has become one of America's most respected opera companies and a powerhouse in Seattle's cultural scene. Now, to mark the company's growth and accomplishments, we are pleased to announce the publication of a stunning new large-format book: 50 Years of Seattle Opera. Written by Melinda Bargreen and published by Marquand Books, a Seattle-based designer and producer of fine art books. Bargreen has reviewed and covered the highs and lows of Seattle Opera on behalf of The Seattle Times for close to 40 of the company's 50 years; she writes with a unique authority on the subject. BROADWAY BARKS announces their 16th annual star-studded dog and cat adoption event featuring celebrities from the hottest shows on Broadway to benefit New York City animal shelters and adoption agencies. Founded by Mary Tyler Moore and Bernadette Peters, the event, produced by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS will take place on Saturday, July 12 in Shubert Alley (located between 44th and 45th Streets, between Broadway and Eighth Avenue). The festivities begin at 3:00 p.m. where you can meet all the adoptable dogs and cats; celebrity presentations of pets from animal shelters citywide will take place between 5-6:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
