BWW Review: ASSASSINS Musically Explores the Minds of Those Who Attempted to Assassinate the President of the United States
by Shari Barrett - Sep 28, 2016

The great genius of contemporary musical theater, creator of Sweeney Todd, Into the Woods and Company, Stephen Sondheim leads audiences on a tuneful revue of presidential assassins and would-be killers from John Wilkes Booth to John Hinckley. The performance is guided by the Proprietor (brilliantly portrayed by Will Shure) who takes you through a most unusual musical history lesson in the form of a carnival game called "Shoot the Prez - Win a Prize" during which the sounds of each era accompany riveting portrayals of history's most impassioned and deranged. Thought-provoking and darkly delightful, ASSASSINS won five Tony Awards in its first revival on Broadway and remains one of the most controversial Broadway musicals ever written. (more...)

BWW Review: Look Up For SILENT SKY
by Amanda Finn - Nov 9, 2015

In the early 20th century, women were barred from many fields of study - even pondering the wonders of the night sky. But that did not stop Leavitt from making discoveries that lead to establishing a measurement standard for astronomers all over the world. BWW Review: Springhouse Theatre's THE MARVELOUS WONDERETTES
by Jeffrey Ellis - Nov 14, 2015

How wonderful is it that a song can usher in all sorts of memories - perhaps of your first kiss, driving in a car along a dusty country road, or of people once-loved, still-loved, who are no longer a part of your life - to flood your mind, fill your heart and to transport you, as if by magic, to some earlier time? I love that feeling, which we in the theater are subject to far more often than regular folk, thanks to the music that underscores our dramatic lives and which allows everyone onstage, offstage, backstage - in whatever stage of life - to indulge in the play of 'make believe.' BWW Review: Profiles Theatre's JERUSALEM Is a Poetic Trip Into the Woods
by Patrick Rybarczyk - Mar 14, 2016

It's St. George's Day and a merry band of rural England revelers wake in the aftermath of a night of debauchery. The Leader of the Pack, a Falstaff of sorts Johnny 'Rooster' Byron, surveys the surroundings outside of his trailer home - a refrigerator, scattered bottles and chairs at a table, and a destroyed 'telly.' The tales begin to spin as plans for a day of fun at the local county fair are marred by an eviction notice on Rooster's door. Country life seems anything but simple in Profiles Theatre's ambitious production of Jez Butterworth's Tony winning play, Jerusalem. (more...)
