BWW Review: A DOG STORY Captures Hearts and Laughs at The Davenport Theater Loft

A DOG STORY is that rare musical comedy that manages to be sweet but not cloying, accessible but not banal, and light but not unsubstantial. With most of the city still in deep mourning over the election (and facing a logistical nightmare in Midtown for the next four years), this new musical--with a strong book by Eric H. Weinberger and excellent lyrics and music by Gayla D. Morgan-could not have come at a more perfect time. The show was an extended-release happy pill, after which you felt-if only for an hour or two-that everything will somehow be okay. (more...)

The Children's Playhouse of Maryland, Inc. (CPM), in residence at CCBC Essex, Elf, Jr. The Musical, the weekends of Dec. 3-4, 10-11, and 17-18 at 1 p.m., with additional shows at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4 and 18, and 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10. The Sunday, Dec. 11 show at 1p.m. will be American Sign Language interpreted by students of CCBC Catonsville Interpreter Preparation Certification Program. A special Sensory Friendly performance is set for December 11 at 4:30 p.m. Show tickets are $10 each. Tickets will be sold at the door only as space permits.
