ArtFields Returns To Lake City For Sixth Edition Featuring More Than 400 Artists And 40 Venues

The sixth annual ArtFields competition and exhibition, sponsored by the Lake City Creative Alliance (LCCA), will return to Lake City, S.C. April 20-28, 2018, where it will showcase the works of more than 400 Southeastern artists, who are competing for prizes totaling $120,000, including a grand prize of $50,000, which will be awarded on the final day of the event.

The Klezmatics Featuring Joshua Nelson Come to The Broad Stage

The Klezmatics, known for their unique blend of melodic mysticism and improvisational activism, return to The Broad Stage to turn their music inside out on Thursday, March 29 at 7:30pm. Performing alongside the "Prince of Kosher Gospel," Joshua Nelson, this evening will expose the complexity of Jewish identity, Black identity and human identity.

2017 Regional Theatre Tony Award recipient Dallas Theater Center (DTC) announces titles for the 2018-2019 season, including the heartwarming, southern comedy Steel Magnolias; the critically-acclaimed Broadway play and winner of the 2017 Pulitzer Prize, Sweat; William Shakespeare's delightful comedy, Twelfth Night; the acclaimed comedy, then film, Real Women Have Curves; a world premiere play set in Dallas, Penny Candy; a new play fresh off the New York theater season, The Wolves, and a fascinating play about the relationship between Muhammad Ali and Stepin Fetchit, Fetch Clay, Make Man. Productions will take place at the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre at the AT&T Performing Arts Center and at the Kalita Humphreys Theater. Bristol Riverside Theatre Produces THE PRODUCERS

Bristol Riverside Theatre presents the ever-popular musical The Producers with book by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan and music and lyrics by Mel Brooks on March 6-April 1. The multiple Tony-award winning musical is directed by Keith Baker, music directed by Douglass Lutz, with choreography by Stephen Casey and starring Danny Rutigliano and Michael Doherty and featuring Nicole Benoit, Fred Inkley, Morgan W. Reynolds, Jo Twiss, and Danny Vaccaro. The ensemble features Luke Bradt, Kathryn Brunner, Nicole Calabrese, Zachary J. Chiero, John D. Performance Space New York (formerly Performance Space 122) presents the East Village Series, its first semi-annual themed series, and the first program curated by the institution's new Executive Artistic Director, Jenny Schlenzka. This presentation of works from some of today's most radical performers and multidisciplinary artists resituates the institution in newly revamped spaces, designed by Deborah Berke Partners, in 122 Community Center (150 First Avenue, at East 9th Street), where Performance Space 122 was founded, and where it operated until it moved out in 2011 for the building renovation. The series contemplates the past, present, and future of the organization and its neighborhood.

Highlights of the month include multi-night runs from Jazz vocalist (and Chicago transplant) Lizz Wright (Nov. 1-2), Herb Alpert of Tijuana Brass with his wife, Grammy-winning singer Lani Hall, (Nov. 6-7), and four shows over two days with saxophonist Kurt Elling (Nov. 25-26) plus a benefit for Merit School of Music with Nico Segal (previously known as Donnie Trumpet from the Chance the Rapper-affiliated band, The Social Experiment) and The JuJu Exchange (Nov. 28) and much more.

An eclectic lineup is featured this month at Blue Note Hawaii with an array of iconic national artists, local favorites and hilarious comedians. The Henry Kapono Artist to Artist Series continues with Jerry Santos of Olomana, followed by local greats Shawn Pimental and Lehua Kalima, one-man wonder Tavana, Kapono N??ili?ili, Brother Noland and of course the incomparable Willie K. The Blue Note Hawaii Comedy Series continues this month with Steve Byrne and Louie Anderson. National recording artist and GRAMMY Award-winning R&B icon Regina Belle kicks off the month and is book ended with a capella phenoms Take 6. More artists this month include bandoneon player JP Jofre and his Nuevo Tango Quartet, the amazing flamenco guitarist Ottmar Liebert and pop singer-songwriter Eric Hutchinson.
