The Old Globe will open its 2013-14 Season with The Last Goodbye, a new musical that marries Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet and the incendiary songs of the legendary singer-songwriter Jeff Buckley. Conceived and adapted by Michael Kimmel, the rock musical is directed by two-time Tony Award nominee Alex Timbers (Peter and the Starcatcher, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson). Choreography is by Sonya Tayeh ('So You Think You Can Dance'), and orchestrations, music direction and arrangements are by Kris Kukul. The complete creative team and casting, as well as the remainder of the Globe's new season, will be announced at a later date. The Last Goodbye will run on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center, Sunday, Sept. 22 - Nov. 3, 2013. Preview performances run Sept. 22- Oct. 5. Opening night is Sunday, Oct. 6. Tickets are currently available by subscription only. That Roberto Bolle is the body beautiful, not to mention gorgeous, extraordinaire, beyond belief, is not to be questioned. If he took just one step to the right, you might call it exploitation or something closely resembling that. Mr. Bolle, wisely, did not take that slippery path. He remained an amiable, charming and silent host to the evening that bore his name, Roberto Bolle and Friends Gala. So, if he did take every opportunity to present his buff technique, there was nothing to do but sit back and enjoy it, or carp frequently at what was going on. (more...)

In addition to numerous plays, Keith Huff has written for the television series "House of Cards" and "Mad Men." This one-woman show features Milwaukee favorite Mary MacDonald Kerr who was last seen at MCT in THE SWEETEST SWING IN BASEBALL. The show is also a production collaboration with the UW-Milwaukee Theatre Department. UWM professor Jim Tasse will direct and the production team members are UWM faculty and students. American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) Conservatory Director Melissa Smith announced today that A.C.T.'s Tony Award-winning theater and training institution has launched The San Francisco Semester, an all-new study away program bringing undergraduate students from across the country into an active, ongoing engagement with the eclectic and energetic arts community of San Francisco and the Bay Area. With a focus on the practical aspects of the craft of acting and life in the professional theater, the 15-week program features a 17-credit core curriculum enhancing students' undergraduate study with rigorous, upper-level classes in acting styles, voice/dialects, physical theater, and devised (student-created) work. A.C.T. joins the ranks of such other distinguished study away programs as La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club and the National Theater Institute.
