Set firmly in, and often about, New York, Company follows five married, once married, or soon to be married couples and their mutual friend, Robert, a 35-year old bachelor who has been unable to connect in a long-term relationship. Bobby observes the less than ideal aspects of commitment. But, eventually, learns that while relationships aren't perfect, they are a necessary part of "Being Alive." Includes the songs "Getting Married Today," "The Ladies Who Lunch," and "Being Alive."



Opening on Broadway in 1970 and running 705 performances, garnering 14 Tony Award Nominations, and winning 6 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Book, Best Score, Best Lyrics. Revived on Broadway in 1995 running for 60 performances garnering 2 Tony Nominations. Revived again in 2006 running 246 performances garnering 3 Tony Nominations and winning for Best Revival of a Musical.

Music & lyrics are by Stephen Sondheim, conceived & directed by James Lapine. Sondheim on Sondheim will begin previews on March 19th, 2010 and open officially April 22nd, 2010 at Studio 54 on Broadway (254 West 54th Street). This will be a limited engagement through Sunday, June 13th, 2010.

In November 1974, a BOAC aircraft was hijacked in Dubai by Palestinian terrorists. The aircraft was flown to Tunisia and held on the tarmac for three days. Kath Walker, member of the steering committee for the 2nd World Black and African Festival of Arts and Culture meeting in Nigeria, and later to be Oodgeroo Noonuccal, was on that plane.

The cast also includes Lois Markle, Ana Reeder and Helen Carey. Hedda Gabler officially opened on Sunday, January 25th, 2009. This is a limited engagement through March 29th, 2009. Mary-Louise Parker stars as 'Hedda Gabler' in this new interpretation of Henrik Ibsen's modern classic. A woman of dangerous independence restrained by a conventional marriage, Hedda Gabler indulges in a cruel game, amusing herself with the misfortune she inflicts on those around her. As Hedda struggles to balance her wild desires against her chosen life, she sets into motion a manic chain of events that bring her story to a chilling end. Aquila Theatre Company Receives Largest Grant Ever NEH for 'Page and Stage' Program

AQUILA THEATRE COMPANY (Peter Meineck, Artistic Director) is proud to announce that it has received a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities of $292,585 to launch its newest program, PAGE and STAGE: Theater, Tradition, and Culture in America. No other NY theater company received a grant of this size from the NEH. In fact, this is the largest outright grant to any NY State organization. 'We are thrilled that the NEH is backing this groundbreaking program to combine the performing arts centers and libraries to reach new audiences, ' said Mr. Meineck.
