Stephen Schwartz has joined the cast of the upcoming concert, In Good Company, which will celebrate the release of Lee Lessack's romantic duets CD of the same name, as well as the 10th anniversary of LML Records. The concert, which will feature over a dozen Broadway and cabaret vocalists, will be held under the stars on July 10th at 8 PM at the Ford Amphitheatre in Los Angeles.

Schwartz' 1971 score for Godspell raised him to prominence as a composer-lyricist with a flair for blending pop and theatre music; he won 2 Grammys and a Best Original Score Tony nomination when the show transferred to Broadway in 1977. His score for Pippin also garnered a Best Score nom; The Magic Show and The Baker's Wife followed, with the latter closing out of town but later becoming a cult favorite with productions in London, at the Paper Mill Playhouse and elsewhere. He contributed songs to Working, a concept musical based on the book by Studs Turkel, and collaborated on the score for Rags with Charles Strouse. Both shows won Tony nominations for Best Score, as did his latest--that of Wicked, his most successful musical to date. His children's musical Captain Louie is currently playing at the York Theatre.

Schwartz is also known as a composer for animated films, having collaborated with Alan Menken on the scores of Pocahontas and The Hunchback of Notre Dame. He also contributed songs to the DreamWorks film The Prince of Egypt; it's hit "When You Believe" earned him an Academy Award for Best Song.

Lessack, one of the top male cabaret vocalists in the business, has released several prior CDs including a self-titled one, I Know You by Heart and Too Marvelous for Words.

Ann Hampton Callaway, Nita Whitaker, Susan Werner, Frank D'Ambrosio, Ken Page, Brian Lane Green and David Burnham have also signed on to perform in the In Good Company concert.

Proceeds from the concert will benefit Operation USA (www.opusa.org). To order tickets for LML Music's In Good Company, visit www.FordAmphitheatre.org.
