The French Institute Alliance Fran aise (FIAF), New York's premier French cultural and language center, today announced the 2019 Crossing the Line Festival, featuring 11 performances and a gallery exhibition from a geographically, generationally, and artistically diverse group of artists whose work transcends genres and boundaries. All performances are world, US, or New York premieres; they are united by their convention-breaking fearlessness as they confront topics from social injustice to personal demons. Many of the performances pay homage to legendary artists of our time and previous eras, while the theme of migration and its transformational effects on identity informs several others. The McAninch Arts Center (MAC) is pleased to present a free concert by The New Lionel Hampton Big Band with Jason Marsalis, Saturday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. This incredible band featuring world-class musicians who played with the legendary Lionel Hampton will perform a memorable mix of jazz, swing and bebop. This concert was originally scheduled for the Lakeside Pavilion this past summer as part of the WDCB LIVE Jazz Concert Series but was cancelled due to the impact of poor weather on the band's air travel. The rescheduled concert is presented in partnership with WDCB 90.9 FM Public Radio from College of DuPage. There are no advance reservations. The box office will begin to hand out tickets at the MAC day of show, starting at 2 p.m.
