Erika Phoebus' RUSALKA Premieres At The 10th Annual Planet Connections Theatre Festivity

The audience is invited to eavesdrop on the vibrant and perilous world of RUSALKA. Blending history with the atmosphere of an underground speakeasy, this world is brought to life by the bar's live house band, playing an eclectic selection of music from the WWII era as well as stylized interpretations of modern music meant to invoke the fire & frenzy of a world at war. The story revolves around two young sisters infiltrate an underground bar catering to jazz-loving Nazis who find an escape in the music they are meant to forbid. One SS Lieutenant in particular welcomes a sweet romance, though the sisters have been tasked to seduce him to a darker fate. The nearby woods await revenge as music, dancing, boozing and secrets weave together to unlock this wild tale of youthful resistance.

Oak Cliff's premiere multicultural and multidiscipline center for the arts, Bishop Arts Theatre Center (BATC), is celebrating a milestone this year with the announcement of its 25th Anniversary Silver Threads Season. Executive Artistic Director Teresa Coleman Wash and Board of Directors President Boderick Hall announced this morning a season that is filled with theatre, jazz, special events, a speaker series, arts education initiatives and the return of Langston Hughes' Black Nativity for its 15th year on stage with Bishop Arts Theatre Center. Founder and Executive Artistic Director Teresa Wash was jubilant with the announcement stating, 'For 25 years the Bishop Arts Theatre Center has been a cornerstone of the arts & culture in our community. We have been intentional about being more than a theatre, our goal has been to be a neighborhood resource center for the arts. We are thrilled to celebrate this milestone anniversary!'

Featuring previously unseen archival footage and using only firsthand accounts by survivors and those directly involved in the tragedy, WACO: THE LONGEST SIEGE looks at unexplored facets of the Waco story, the Branch Davidians and their charismatic leader, and the uneasy relationship between the media and national law enforcement agencies, which further complicated the deadly series of events that claimed 75 lives, including 25 children. WACO: THE LONGEST SIEGE premieres Monday, April 9 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Smithsonian Channel.

Cast And Creatives Announced For U.S. Premiere of DR. SEUSS'S THE LORAX

The Old Globe, together with Children's Theatre Company (CTC), and in partnership with The Old Vic, today announced details for the Minneapolis and San Diego productions of Dr. Seuss's The Lorax in its U.S. premiere. The production, based on the book The Lorax by Dr. Seuss, is adapted for the stage by David Greig (Artistic Director of the Royal Lyceum Theatre Company; recent work: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Cover My Tracks) with music and lyrics written by Charlie Fink (Frontman/songwriter for the hit musical group, Noah and the Whale (2007-2015). H. Adam Harris, along with Meghan Kreidler and Rick Miller puppeteering, will play The Lorax. Joining them is Steven Epp as The Once-ler. Playing multiple roles in the ensemble are Ansa Akyea, Christopher Becknell, Stephanie Bertumen, Brian Bose, Ryan Colbert, Lynnea Doublette, Johannah "Joh" Easley, Rajane Katurah, Ryan Lear, Ryan Dean Maltz, Emily Michaels King, and Autumn Ness.
