Grammy winning singer/songwriter, John Berry, has released a heartfelt and personal song from his latest project, Thomas Road. The endearing single entitled, 'The Richest Man,” was released with an exclusive announcement in Billboard Magazine on Friday. Actress Sarah Jessica Parker is now a publisher, and joins TODAY along with the author of her imprint's first novel: Fatima Farheen Mirza, whose book “A Place for Us” is the story of a traditional Indian-American family in California torn between traditional and modern values. Tele München Group (TMG) and AMC Networks' SundanceTV and Sundance Now have announced a partnership on the major television event, THE NAME OF THE ROSE, produced by 11 Marzo Film, Palomar and TMG in co-production with SundanceTV and RAI Fiction. The limited series will launch in 2019 on RAI in Italy and SundanceTV in the US, and will stream on Sundance Now in the US and Canada.

Goodman Theatre announces the cast and creative team for the Chicago premiere of Father Comes Home From the Wars (Parts 1, 2 & 3) by Pulitzer Prize winner Suzan-Lori Parks, directed by Niegel Smith. Parks, in her "finest work yet" (New York Times), serves up "an American story as much about our present as it is about our past" (Los Angeles Times). Filled with wit, poetry and original music composed by Grammy Award winner Justin Ellington and performed on stage nightly by Chicago native blues musician Melody Angel, the production follows Hero (Kamal Angelo Bolden), a Texas slave, who faces a simple yet monumental choice: join his master in the Confederate army to win his freedom-or remain enslaved at the plantation. Father Comes Home From the Wars (Parts 1, 2 & 3) appears May 25 - June 24, 2018 (opening night is June 4 at 7pm) in Goodman Theatre's 350-seat flexible Owen Theatre. The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts announces three more critically-acclaimed acts to its 2018 Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts (PIFA). They are Toshi Reagon -- a talented singer, composer, and producer with roots in folk, blues and rock; Nobuntu - an all-female a capella group from Zimbabwe; and Inventive Mothers: A Tribute to Frank Zappa performed by Studio Dan from Austria. Each will enhance the stellar lineup of artists already planned for PIFA 2018. The 11-day festival is packed with more than 50 performances ranging from music and dance to 360-degree immersive spectacle experiences, and will attract regional visitors to Philadelphia from Thursday, May 31 through Sunday, June 10.

Commonwealth Shakespeare Company (CSC) announces the second staged production of its 2017-18 Winter/Spring Season, Wendy Wasserstein's satire Old Money directed by Karen MacDonald at the Sorenson Center for the Arts, Babson College, 231 Forest Street in Wellesley, MA.

Golden Thread Productions, the first American theatre company devoted to the Middle East, presents a season that fosters real conversations about issues that matter. The 2018 mainstage season begins with the return of the West Coast premiere of Amir Nizar Zuabi's Oh My Sweet Land in an extended tour of Bay Area kitchens (March 1-30, 2018). Inspired by interviews with Syrian refugees, the production, which was called extraordinary by the San Francisco Chronicle, is directed by Torange Yeghiazarian and features Nora el Samahy. Each performance will be followed by food sharing and a community conversation. The second show of the 2018 season is the critically-acclaimed production of Hassan Abdulrazzak's Love, Bombs, and Apples, which will make its U.S. debut after two sold-out runs in London (April 19-May 6, 2018). The tour-de-force solo show features Asif Khan, who brings to life four men of Middle Eastern descent, each from different parts of the globe, all experiencing a moment of revelation. Directed by Rosemunde Hutt and presented in association with Turtle Key Arts, the comedy was heralded as a quartet of monologues with a profound ability to find bubbling humor in the most over-trodden tragedies by The Stage. The mainstage season culminates in the world premiere of award winning playwright Mona Mansour's We Swim, We Talk, We Go to War, directed by Evren Odcikin (November 16-December 16, 2018). A Middle East America National New Plays Initiative commission, the play is a literal conversation between an American woman of Arab descent and her nephew, who has enlisted in the American military. Structurally adventurous with a third of the play taking place in the Pacific Ocean, We Swim welcomes Mansour for her fourth and most ambitious production with Golden Thread. Love, Bombs, and Apples and We Swim, We Talk, We Go to War will both be presented at San Francisco's Potrero Stage (1695 18th Street), where Golden Thread is a resident company.
