by Jeffrey Ellis - Nov 15, 2010

Brigadoon, onstage at Cumberland County Playhouse through November 21, could well be one of the closest-to-sheer-perfection musical theater experiences I've ever had, beautifully played and exquisitely staged, performed by a phenomenally gifted cast led by the multi-talented Britt Hancock (who sings, act and dances with vigorous conviction) as Tommy Albright. If you are a true lover of musical theater, you really must go see it before Brigadoon once again disappears into the mist. (more...)

Review Roundup: ELF on BroadwayReview Roundup: ELF on Broadway
by BWW - Nov 15, 2010

ELF opened on Sunday, November 14th at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre (302 West 45th Street). ELF is the hilarious tale of Buddy, a young orphan child who mistakenly crawls into Santa's bag of gifts and is transported back to the North Pole. Buddy is raised unaware that he is actually a human, until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa's permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity. Faced with the harsh reality that his father is on the naughty list and his step-brother doesn't even believe in Santa, Buddy is determined to win over his new family and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas. This modern day Christmas classic is sure to make everyone embrace their inner ELF! (more...)

by Kara Pohlkamp - Nov 11, 2010

9 TO 5: THE MUSICAL is a quirky tale of revenge secured through feminist strength with a superb, toe-tapping score by Dolly Parton. After seeing 9 to 5 for myself, I do not understand why the show only lasted only a little more than four months on Broadway. Sure, it was never going to be a Broadway legend, but it has a fresh and original aura that I found to be more fulfilling than expected. If you're on the fence about reserving tickets for this production I encourage you to give it a try and lose yourself for a few hours in Dolly Parton's world. (more...)
