Internationally-acclaimed jazz and blues singer, Kim Nalley, returns to Feinstein's at the Nikko for a limited two-week engagementAugust 2-­12, 2018.  Joined by her band-Tammy Hall (piano), Michael Zisman(bass) and Kent Bryston (drums)-plus special guest, legendary jazz tenor saxophonist Houston Person, Nalley will present a memorable evening of jazz and blues standards.

The virtuoso jazz pianist Dick Hyman will perform at the Bickford Theatre on Monday, May 7, at 7:30 PM. His solo concert, "Dick Hyman Plays the Decades," features his interpretations of popular songs from Tchaikovsky's "The Nutcracker" written in 1892 to Stephen Sondheim's "Losing My Mind" from the 1971 musical Follies. Some of the other selections to be performed are the Lennon-McCartney hit "Norwegian Wood," the popular standard "Stella by Starlight," and "I Feel Pretty" in celebration of the 100th birthday of Leonard Bernstein. Mr. Hyman also promises to perform his tour-de-force version of Fats Waller's "Minor Drag."

Hot off the heels of his triumphant performance as Judas in NBC's Jesus Christ Superstar Live, Tony Award nominee BRANDON VICTOR DIXON will be the headliner at TDF's 50th Anniversary Gala on Monday, June 18 at Manhattan's historic Gotham Hall (1356 Broadway @ 36th Street, NYC).

Amas Musical Theatre's (Donna Trinkoff, Artistic Producer) Rosetta LeNoire Musical Theatre Academy will present Jesus Christ Superstar, a Rock Opera with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice.  The story is loosely based on the Gospels' accounts of the last week of Jesus's life, beginning with the preparation for the arrival of Jesus and his disciples in Jerusalem and ending with the crucifixion.

An unwritten portion of Music Hall's rich and diverse history will be explored and celebrated in this year's highly anticipated, one-night-only performance conducted by John Morris Russell with the theme, "Under One Roof."

Set for Easter Sunday (April 1, 2018), NBC will bring to broadcast television 'Jesus Christ Superstar Live!' -- a one-of-a-kind live staging of the iconic 1971 Broadway rock opera with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice. TV Line reports that Brandon Victor Dixon will appear as Judas opposite Sara Bareilles, Alice Cooper and John Legend in NBC's special event JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR LIVE IN CONCERT, to be aired Easter Sunday, April 1. The next incarnation of NBC's series of live musicals will be an exuberant concert staging of this iconic rock opera in front of a live audience at the Marcy Armory in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, N.Y.

Community College of Baltimore County presents There is a Road: Scenes for Concert Band, an original composition by composer and attorney Derrick Wang, creator of the opera Scalia/Ginsburg, as the first commissioned work for the Baltimore Symphonic Band. The Baltimore Symphonic Band presents music from Baltimore composers and about the Baltimore experience, in this free concert appropriate for all ages. The program includes a musical tribute to Edgar Allan Poe's 'The Raven,' along with a performance of the poem by Baltimore's own Barry Williams. CCBC President Dr. Sandra Kurtinitis will read the delightful narrations penned by Baltimore poet Ogden Nash to accompany Saint-Saens' whimsical suite Carnival of the Animals. The program will also include tributes to Billie Holiday, Eubie Blake and the Star Spangled Banner.

The Tank (Meghan Finn and Rosalind Grush, Artistic Directors) will present Theatre of War's experimental reconstruction of Amiri Baraka's (Flying) Dutchman, directed by Christopher Stevenson at The Tank (312 West 36th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues) February 9-24. A special holiday musical gift has arrived at Theatre in the Park's (TTIP) INDOOR with the delightful tale of THE HAPPY ELF. This festive musical, composed by Grammy Winner and American Idol judge Harry Connick, opens Dec. 8 and continues through Dec. 24 at the new Johnson County Arts & Heritage Center (AHC) in Overland Park. TTIP INDOOR productions are held in the Black Box Theatre at the AHC at 7:30 p.m.; matinee performances are at 2 p.m. THE HAPPY ELF is rated G and is appropriate for the entire family.
