Juilliard Dance announces its 2018-19 season of performances of world premieres, masterworks in repertory, and new works developed by Juilliard students. The cornerstone of the season is New Dances: Edition 2018, featuring four world-premiere dances by innovative choreographers Stefanie Batten Bland (fourth-year class), alumnus Peter Chu (third-year class), Nelly van Bommel (second-year class), and Marcus Jarrell Willis (first-year class). Performances take place December 7, 8, 10, and 11, at 7:30pm and December 9 at 3pm in Juilliard's Peter Jay Sharp Theater. In the spring semester, Juilliard Spring Dances features repertory works by acclaimed choreographers: Bill T. Jones' D-Man in the Waters (Part 1); Alejandro Cerrudo's Little Mortal Jump; and Martha Graham's The Rite of Spring. Performances take place on March 27-29, at 7:30pm and March 30, at 2pm and 7:30pm in Juilliard's Peter Jay Sharp Theater.

The 72nd Annual Tony Awards are this Sunday June 10th at 8/9c hosted by Josh Groban and Sara Bareilles. It's the biggest award show of the Broadway season and it closes out a long awards season for Broadway and Off-Broadway musicals and plays. We can't help but wonder what chances this year's Best Musical and Best Play nominees have of taking home the ultimate prize...

The York Theatre Company in association with Documentary Arts presents the world premiere of the new musical Lonesome Blues, based on the true story of legendary bluesman Blind Lemon Jefferson, created by Alan Govenar (Texas in Paris) and Akin Babatunde (Blind Lemon Blues), directed by Katherine Owens (How Is It That We Live or Shakey Jake + Alice), performed by Akin Babatunde with David Weiss on guitar.

Grammy and Brit Award winning musician Midge Ure will release his new album Orchestrated in North America on June 8th. This remarkable new album features stunningly reimagined orchestrated versions of Ultravox hits and Midge Ure classics including 'Vienna', 'Dancing with Tears In My Eyes', and 'If I Was'. Musician, singer-songwriter, producer and activist, Midge Ure has worn many musical hats over the years; however, working on a fully orchestrated album has been a new venture for Midge. Said Midge: 'The record took eighteen months to make, but a lifetime of work to achieve.' The set will be released by BMG on CD and clear vinyl.

En Garde Arts presents Asiimwe Deborah Kawe and Sean Christopher Lewis's Red Hills, returning the company to its trailblazing site-specific origins with a work that speaks "precisely to its time" (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette). This haunting two-person play follows an American and a Rwandan who, as teens during the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda, shared a chance encounter that changed them forever. En Garde, with director Katie Pearl, has adapted Red Hills to a New York-specific space: an empty floor in a downtown office building one block from Wall Street, where it will run from June 6-July 1.

The Grammy-winning Kronos Quartet returns to D.C. on April 19, 2018 with long-time collaborator Wu Man to perform their major collaborative work, A Chinese Home, at Lisner Auditorium, presented by Washington Performing Arts. The program was conceived by pipa virtuoso Wu Man, Kronos' Artistic Director David Harrington, and acclaimed stage and film director Chen Shi-Zheng (The Peony Pavilion, Dark Matter, The Bonesetter's Daughter).

Today, Luther Burbank Center for the Arts (LBC)made its spring announcement of 18 new shows added to the 2018-2019 season, continuing to showcase chart topping musicians, compelling dance companies, groundbreaking storytellers and authors and a wide range of holiday performances, all appealing to diverse audiences. Alligator recording artists Lil' Ed & The Blues Imperials, touring in support of their latest Alligator CD, THE BIG SOUND OF LIL' ED & THE BLUES IMPERIALS, will perform at The Iridium in New York on Monday, March 5, 2018. MOJO magazine included the new CD in their influential Top Ten Best Blues Albums Of 2016. Currently celebrating 30 history-making years together, Lil' Ed & The Blues Imperials ply their musical talents with skills that have been honed to a razor's edge. Mixing smoking slide guitar boogies and raw-boned shuffles with the deepest slow-burners, Lil' Ed Williams and his Blues Imperials -- bassist (and Ed's half-brother) James 'Pookie' Young, guitarist Mike Garrett and drummer Kelly Littleton -- deliver gloriously riotous, rollicking and intensely emotional blues. Ed guested on TBS Television's CONAN, with Conan O'Brien proclaiming Lil' Ed as 'the man who taught me to play the blues'. The band recently won the coveted 2017 Blues Music Award for Band Of The Year, the same honor they received in 2009 and 2007. They received the Living Blues Award for Best Live Performer three times in five years. In 2017 they were named Blues Band Of The Year by Blues Blast Magazine.

Through the generosity of Jackie Autry, the McCallum Theatre welcomes the return of The Beach Boys for two performances on Sunday, March 4, at 3:00pm and 7:00pm. You can capsulize most pop music acts by reciting how many hits they've had and how many millions of albums they've sold. But these conventional measurements fall short when you're assessing the impact of The Beach Boys. To be sure, this band has birthed a torrent of hit singles and sold albums by the tens of millions.  But its greater significance lies in the fact that it changed the musical landscape so profoundly that every pop act since has been in its debt.

Each year, The Wick Theatre and Costume Museum stages a production selected by their fans, this season, the iconic Singin' in the Rain takes that honor. 'We were so excited when Singin' in the Rain won our fan poll,' said Marilynn A. Wick, Managing Executive Producer. Containing hits such as 'You Are My Lucky Star', 'Good Mornin', 'You Stepped Out of a Dream', 'Make 'em Laugh', 'You Were Meant For Me' and of course the title song 'This is one of the most beloved films of all times, and watching it come to life with this amazingly talented cast will be an experience that audience members will treasure.
