BWW Review: WHAT MAKES A MAN at the Berkley Street TheatreBWW Review: WHAT MAKES A MAN at the Berkley Street Theatre
by Dennis Kucherawy - Oct 22, 2014

While reviewing What Makes a Man (WMAM), now playing at the Berkley Street Theatre, it's tempting to comment on what's not there, what could and should be there, rather than what is there. What is on display is a marvelous musical stage portrait of Charles Aznavour, the world renowned French singer/songwriter, actor and political activist/diplomat. A man of the world, he is capable of singing in five languages. One of the last surviving 'showmen,' he still is capable of filling the world's most prestigious concert halls. For example, a year ago he performed for the first time in 25 years at London's Royal Albert Hall. Demand was so great, a second concert was booked there for this past June. (more...)

by BWW News Desk - Nov 25, 2013

"The fact is, many freelancers or home business owners don't think of themselves as 'businesses' because they see themselves as a one-man-band, and the perception is that a business means many people," said Joseph Ferriolo, director of Wise, which provides individualized, custom-designed business plans for startups and expanding companies. "By not defining themselves in their own minds as a 'business,' they are minimizing their effectiveness and missing out on opportunities for growth and increased revenue." (more...)

FUNK, New Album by Keller Williams, Out TodayFUNK, New Album by Keller Williams, Out Today
by BWW News Desk - Nov 12, 2013

Being a Keller Williams fan means being ready for anything—trying to guess where this omnivorous artist will head next might be fun but chances are good you won't even come close. In the past three years alone Williams has recorded an album of eclectic cover tunes with the Keels (Thief), a children's record (Kids), the bass-centric and appropriately titled Bass, a bluegrass set with the Travelin' McCourys (Pick) and a Grateful Dead tribute project on which he played piano exclusively (Keys). Add to that a hectic touring schedule that might find him playing with the McCourys, the Keels, with his newest outfit More Than A Little or—as he's done for years—as a solo one-man-band. See a complete fall tour itinerary below, including his just announced a 3-night New Year's Eve run that launches on December 27th at Mr. Smalls in Millvale, PA, hits Beachland Ballroom & Tavern in Cleveland, OH on December 28th, and wraps up on December 31 at Baltimore's Rams Head Live with sets by Keller solo, Keller Williams with More Than A Little, and Keller and the Keels. CABARET LIFE NYC: Lauren Fox & Ritt Henn Successfully Expand Definition of Cabaret With Surreal David Lynch ShowCABARET LIFE NYC: Lauren Fox & Ritt Henn Successfully Expand Definition of Cabaret With Surreal David Lynch Show
by Stephen Hanks - Jan 26, 2014

Lauren Fox, one of the more multifaceted and ambitious young stars of the New York cabaret scene, seems intent on redefining what is already a pretty open-ended art form. The recent run of her new duo show at Stage 72 with bass player Ritt Henn, Ghosts of Love: Songs from the Reel World of David Lynch (January 9, 18, 23, and 24) was the most recent example of Ms. Fox's unconventional approach to a 70-80 minute nightclub show and the result was operatic film noir--cabaret style.
