The Monkeys are back just in time with a brand-new reading for our on-going Distillery series!

This month:
"Pluggedin"
By Scott Herman
Directed by Maggie Rogers
and Featuring Kiki Abba, Erin Bednarz, Joe Cummings, Andrew Shanks, and Skye Stephenson

PluggedIn dives into our technology-saturated world to explore how it affects our relationships with humans, computers, and everything in between. When Carrie realizes she is spending more time on dating websites than on dates, she decides to take out the middle man and just start dating her computer, Mac. She soon discovers the challenges of this arrangement: new relationships are hard enough, but when your boyfriend is literally creating his personality from scratch, there is bound to be a learning curve. After all, becoming human isn't as easy as flipping a switch.

What is The Distillery? Great question! Macha Monkey believes in supporting new work, but with a limited number of productions each season the company needed more opportunities to share new plays with the community. The solution is The Distillery, a full season of staged readings!

Macha Monkey supports and believes in fostering new plays and specifically new plays that feature strong female characters. Our Distillery series is an opportunity for playwrights to gain valuable feedback from Seattle audiences. It is also a platform for audiences to help shape new works in process. Every reading is followed by discussion of the play and a celebration of emerging pieces of theatre. We're mixing, mingling, and distilling new ideas.

The Distillery is a free series. However, there is a $5 donation at the door to help Macha Monkey pay for script copies and space rental. Thank you for supporting fearless, funny, female theatre!
