Enjoy cinematic drama, adventure, slapstick and suspense this summer at Seattle Center Movies at the Mural, Saturdays, 9 p.m. (dusk), July 26 to Aug. 23, at Mural Amphitheatre at Seattle Center. Presented on a state-of-the-art 45-foot screen, the free movies make the perfect destination for a gathering of friends and family or a casual weekend date. A cult classic kicks off our outdoor summer movie series for the 10th year. The schedule includes:

The Princess Bride - PG (1987), July 26
The beautiful Princess Buttercup and the dashing Westley must overcome staggering odds to find happiness amid six-fingered swordsmen, murderous princes, crafty Sicilians and rodents of unusual size.

Gravity - PG-13 (2013), Aug. 2

Dr. Ryan Stone is a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky in command of his last flight before retiring. But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes, leaving Stone and Kowalsky tethered to nothing but each other.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986) - PG-13, Aug. 9

High school senior Ferris Bueller fakes an illness to skip school on a spring day, then encourages his girlfriend and his pessimistic best friend to spend the day in Chicago as one of their last flings before they graduate and head off to different colleges.

The Great Gatsby (2013) - PG-13, Aug. 16

It's spring of 1922, when an aspiring Midwestern writer travels to Long Island and falls under the spell of an aloof millionaire with designs for the young scribe's unhappily married cousin.

Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) - PG-13, Aug. 23

When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find that an unstoppable force of terror has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving the world in a state of crisis.

Movie-goers are encouraged to arrive early, spread out a blanket on the gently sloping Mural Amphitheatre lawn, bring along a picnic or purchase dinner from a selection of Seattle Center Armory food merchants. Seating at Movies at the Mural is first-come, first-served. Low back chairs, blankets and bean bags are recommended. Large bags, large coolers/ice chests, umbrellas and video and audio recorders are not allowed. Please leave pets at home.

The community gathers for free movies shown under the stars on a 45-foot screen at the Mural Amphitheatre on five weekend evenings in July and August. Movies at the Mural, supported in part by Coca-Cola, T-Mobile, KEXP 90.3 FM, Seattle Center Foundation and the City of Seattle, offers drama, adventure, nostalgia and outdoor fun.
