The Washington Stage Guild continues its 30th anniversary season with a pearl of a romantic comedy, Arlene Hutton's charming LAST TRAIN TO NIBROC. On the train carrying F. Scott Fitzgerald's and Nathaniel West's coffins across the country, a young couple, each returning home from unexpected disappointment, begins a journey to life together that takes several detours, in this WWII-era story of thwarted dreams that lead to unexpected opportunities.

Raleigh, a young flyer has been medically discharged, and May, whose fiancée has been changed by his military training, both set out on a journey home to Kentucky where they know their families will greet them with disappointment. Their chance meeting sparks one to give up his dream and one to find her mettle, and each makes decisions that will have effects that last years.

"Arlene Hutton has written a beautifully-crafted play about simple human hopes and desires that are all-important to each individual.

LAST TRAIN TO NIBROC is warmly humorous and the character's playful interactions are a delight," says Stage Guild Artistic Director Bill Largess. "As we approach the monumental conclusion of BACK TO METHUSELAH in March, this intimate and human story is a perfect contrast to the cosmic approach of Shaw's play. And we are so pleased to have two fine young actors, Wood Van Meter and Lexi Langs, making their company debuts." Bill Largess is at the directing helm of LAST TRAIN TO NIBROC.

Wood Van Meter is making his Washington Stage Guild debut with Nibroc, having been born and raised in central Kentucky. He recently returned to DC after a seven-month tour with Celebrity Cruises as part of their resident production cast. Prior to that, he performed in and around the DC area, including performances at Shakespeare Theatre Company, Studio Theatre, Imagination Stage, Rep Stage, and Signature Theatre. Up next, Wood will be joining the cast of the long-running hit Shear Madness at the Kennedy Center.

Lexi Langs is also performing at Washington Stage Guild for the first time. Favorite regional credits include Avery in Rapture, Blister, Burn (Zoetic Stage); Vanda in Venus in Fur (Cotuit Center for the Arts, MA); Sylvia in Tribes (Mad Cow Theatre); Melody in Bad Jews (GableStage); Bernadette in The Edge of Our Bodies (Mosaic Theatre); Edith in Blithe Spirit (Alhambra Theatre); Frankie Addams in The Member of the Wedding (River City Rep and Virginia Rep); Millie/Pauline in Legacy of Light (Mad Cow Theatre); Dot in Oz (Orlando Shakespeare Theatre); and Becky/Molly in Circle of Friends (American Girl Place Theatre, NYC). She received her BFA through NYU Tisch School of the Arts/Atlantic Acting School.
