The Jewish Community Center of San Francisco (JCCSF) announced today new additions to its 2016 Arts & Ideas lineup, including multiple best-selling authors, musical performances and a new culinary and film series.

The JCCSF welcomes bestselling author Eddie Huang ("Fresh Off the Boat") this June as well as biographer Arthur Lubow, whose latest work explores the unorthodox life of the late photographer Diane Arbus. Making its San Francisco debut, Mexican supergroup Mexrrissey perform their interpretations of the music of acclaimed singer-songwriter Morrissey.

The JCCSF is also proud to announce a collaboration with the San Francisco Film Society (SFFS) for a brand new series called Food on Film. The partnership between the JCCSF and the SFFS celebrates culinary delights and cinematic excellence with programs that feature notable local and national chefs, highlight exceptional cuisine from around the world, and screen important films matched to the theme of each event. Attendees eat, drink and interact with chefs and filmmakers, and explore the powerful expression of culture at the intersection of world-class cuisine and outstanding cinema. The series begins with a preview screening and conversation with the creators and directors of the acclaimed Netflix series Chef's Table, along with featured local chef Dominique Crenn (Atelier Crenn), and continues with Peter Greenaway's controversial film The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover with State Bird Provision's renowned chef/co-owners Stuart Brioza and Nicole Krasinski.

In their San Francisco debut, Mexrrissey presents an evening of songs from acclaimed singer-songwriter Morrissey's solo career and his years with The Smiths - arranged and played by some of Mexico's finest musicians, including Camilo Lara (Mexican Institute of Sound) and Sergio Mendoza (Calexico/Orkesta Mendoza). This all-star super-group's renditions add horns and accordions, and borrow from cumbias and rancheras to interpret a new Mexican spirit into the songs. The powerful imagery in Morrissey's songs of love, loss and longing have always found an audience in Mexico and resonated with generations raised on rancheras and mariachis. Now the love is being returned to the JCCSF this summer.
