Los Altos Stage Company continues its 2016-2017 season with Annie Baker's Circle Mirror Transformation, opening November 18th (with a preview performanceNovember 17th) and running until December 11th at the Bus Barn Theater in Los Altos.

Winner of the 2010 Obie Award for Best New American Play, Circle Mirror Transformation traces the journey of five New Englanders as they make their way through a six-week-long adult acting class in a small Vermont town. Couched in the language of harmless theater games, hearts are quietly torn apart, and tiny wars of epic proportions are waged and won. The audience is invited to observe a beautifully crafted microcosm where, with hilarious detail and clarity, the antic sadness of a motley quintet is revealed.

The New York Times calls Circle Mirror Transformation "... the kind of unheralded gem that sends people into the streets babbling and bright-eyed with the desire to spread the word." Variety says the play is "orchestrated with a subtlety and unfailing naturalness..." and the Village Voice notes that Circle Mirror Transformation"Reverberates with seduction and sorrow."

Annie Baker is one of the most prominent new playwrights in America, whose work has been captivating the theater world for the last decade. In addition to Circle Mirror Transformation, Ms. Baker has written Body Awareness, The Aliens, (which shared the 2010 Obie Award with CMT) The Flick, (which captured the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for Drama) and John. Ms Baker's latest work, The Antipodes, will premiere at the Signature Theatre Company in April, 2017.

Los Altos Stage Company's production of Circle Mirror Transformation is directed by Virginia Drake, acclaimed director of many previous LASC productions, includingMan of La Mancha, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, On Golden Pond, and Doubt. The production features Kristin Brownstone, Gary Landis, Judith Miller, Brittany Pisoni, and Damian Vega.

Opening night tickets, including a reception with the artists, are also $36. Tickets can be purchased online at www.losaltosstage.org, or by calling the Box Office at 650-941-0551.
