EVITA, the story of political powerhouse Eva Peron, runs from March 28th through April 13th at the historic Fox Theatre in Redwood City (2215 Broadway Street, Redwood City, CA).

Eva Peron used her smarts and charisma to rise meteorically from the slums of Argentina to the presidential mansion as First Lady. Adored by her people as a champion for the poor, she became one of the most powerful women in the world - while her greed, outsized ambition and fragile health made her one of the most tragic. EVITA tells Eva's passionate and unforgettable true story, and features some of theater's most beautiful songs, including "Don't Cry for Me Argentina," "Another Suitcase in Another Hall" and "High Flying, Adored."

According to director Jason Hoover, "When we meet Eva Duarte, she's a young, beautiful dreamer--a classic musical leading lady. But Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber deepen their tale as the destitute Eva becomes First Lady Evita Peron, showing us not only her charismatic passion but also her calculated desire for ascension. Argentinians see their "Santa Evita" as a beacon of hope: a former descamisado, surely she will understand their plight. Evita acknowledges that she "came from the people," but insists "they need to adore me," rationalizing her opulent lifestyle in contrast to their poverty. As she begins to buy her own hype, we hear the voice of the opposition in the representative Che, who counters Evita with the harsh reality of Argentine life under Peronism. This conflict between Evita's massive popularity and the period's political corruption make for an eternally timely and compelling story--one that refuses to assign blame to any single party. The characters boldly fight for their desires--good or bad, right or wrong, just or corrupt--never losing their relatability. What results is a rags to riches epic, love story, and political revenge fantasy--that is riveting throughout."

EVITA features Ali Gangi Malone (Eva Peron), Alex Rodriguez (Che Guevara), Anthony Bernal (Juan Peron), Daniel Hurst (Agustin Magaldi), and Samantha Cardenas (Peron's Mistress). The EVITA ensemble includes Melissa Reinertson, Patty Reinhart, Elizabeth Cox, Lizzie Moss, Mary Theresa Capriles,
