The Utah Symphony to Bring the Music of John Williams the Red Butte Garden Amphitheatre

Whether it's the powerful marches from "Star Wars," the awe-inspiring score from "Jurassic Park," or the adventurous music from "E.T.", John Williams' film music has provided the soundscape for many of the world's most popular movies for decades. The Utah Symphony led by guest conductor Randall Crain Fleishcher will bring these scores to life in a live concert at Red Butte Garden Amphitheatre. In a career that spans five decades, John Williams has become one of America's most accomplished and successful composers for film and for the concert stage. Mr. Williams has composed the music and served as music director for many of Hollywood's most acclaimed and successful films. Mr. Williams has received a variety of prestigious awards, including the National Medal of Arts, the Kennedy Center Honor, the Olympic Order, and numerous Academy Awards, Grammy Awards, Emmy Awards and Golden Globe Awards. He remains one of our nation's most distinguished and contributive musical voices.

Mr. Williams may be best known for his work with Steven Spielberg and George Lucas. Almost all of Spielberg's films have Mr. Williams' scores; their notable collaborations include "Jaws" (1975), "E.T." (1982), "Jurassic Park" (1993), "Schindler's List" (1993), "Catch Me If You Can" (2002), "Munich" (2005) and "Lincoln" (2012). Williams also composed the music for George Lucas's six "Star Wars" movies and Episode XII of "Star Wars" in 2015. The impressive body of work that Mr. Williams has created includes music for many other movies, such as "Superman" (1978), "The Witches of Eastwick" (1987), "Home Alone" (1990), "JFK" (1991), "Angela's Ashes" (1999), the first three "Harry Potter" films, "Memoirs of a Geisha" (2005) and "The Book Thief" (2013). Mr. Williams is known for writing soaring scores that often feature recurring musical motives. In an ongoing career, he has worked on more than 100 films.

With three music director positions, a demanding guest conducting schedule, major awards, and a career spanning four continents, Randall Craig Fleischer is making a substantial impact. Mr. Fleischer has appeared as a guest conductor with many major orchestras in the United States and internationally, including repeat engagements with the Israel Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic, San Francisco Symphony, Utah Symphony, and many others. Under his baton, "Deseret News" praised Utah Symphony's "purpose and meaning in the performance, and [Mr.] Fleischer let the lyricism of the music flow in seamless lines."
