To celebrate Valentine's Day, SCERA will offer dining and music when The Moonlight Serenaders and four featured vocalists perform a concert at the SCERA Center for the Arts in Orem tonight, February 15 at 7 p.m.

Robert Sabin will direct the 18-piece band in a selection of big band music from the legendary Glenn Miller with a sampling of other famous composers and varied styles in an evening that will open with "Tuxedo Junction" featuring trombones, and conclude with their signature "Moonlight Serenade."

Reserved-seat tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for children (age 3-11), seniors (age 65+) and students (w/ID). They are available at www.scera.org, by calling (801) 225-ARTS, or in person at the main office of SCERA Center, 745 S. State St., Orem.

Also available for an additional $30 per couple is a buffet-style pre-show dinner from Custom Catering. "We are adding a dinner option to the experience so it could be a perfect Valentine's date for you and the one you love," says SCERA President & CEO Adam J. Robertson.

The Moonlight Serenaders have performed extensively throughout Utah Valley with performances at BYU and Utah Valley University Homecomings, the Apollo Dance Hall in American Fork, Springville Art Museum and The Homestead 125th Anniversary Celebration.

Primarily a dance band, Sabin has added four accomplished vocalists to do a variety of solos and group numbers. Featured will be Jessica Mortimer, a well-known musical theater actress/singer in Utah County and Salt Lake, who audiences may recognize for her starring role as Mary in the Liken the Scriptures film The First Christmas; Jenna Brooke, who has many musical theater credits on her resume; Lyle Mortimer, who has sung in nearly all the major civic and opera houses of the western states, and has been seen inlead roles for SCERA and the Utah Lyric Opera Society; and Dick Chappel, a band singer, who also plays alto saxophone.

Numbers will include "Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree," "Orange Colored Sky," "Almost Like Being in Love," "In the Mood," "I Love You Truly," "The Way You Look Tonight," "Tammy," "Elmer's Tune," "American Patrol," "String of Pearls," "Pennsylvania 6-5000," "Chattanooga Choo Choo," "Little Brown Jug," "La Bamba" "and Bye Bye Blackbird."

Trumpet player Sarge Barnett will also sing in the style of Elvis Presley and perform "Can't Help Falling in Love" and "Blue Suede Shoes."

The evening will end with the band's signature song, "Moonlight Serenade."
