Utah native and Las Vegas entertainer/educator Paul W. Draper returns to Salt Lake City next week to lead an interactive workshop on observation and heightened awareness for actors at Utah's newest haunted house, the Fear Factory. Draper will train the ghouls and goblins with tools to tap into the natural fears of Utah audiences. From cutting edge neuroscience to the secrets of legerdemain, this years crew will be given the oportunity to learn all of the cutting edge skills to mess with minds.

Utah is home to many haunted attractions, and competition to create the best and scariest show is fierce. This key to success generally rests upon the shoulders of volunteer actors. Fear Factory is gearing up for its third season this year, and has invited Draper to kick off their training season by a leading an interactive lecture for its actors, focusing on some of the skills he has developed over the years, and taught to magicians, actors and at fortune 500 corporate retreats.

Draper is a stage mentalist, television personality, anthropologist, author and instructor, and he brings all of these areas of expertise to bear in both performances and seminars. "We are very lucky to have the chance to work with Paul," said Scott Maddix, zone leader and trainer at the Fear Factory. "With his training, I have no doubt our actors will achieve a new level of ability this season: a more intense and focused scare. Being able to read a person and a situation are vital to stage magic. In the haunt, it'll be like gaining a superpower."

"Observation and hightened awareness of human systems are my bread and butter." Draper said "I teach nurses how to be more aware of patients in pain. I have taught CEOs and celebrities how to tell if people are lying. And I can teach actors how to observe and quickly pinpoint the fears of those who attend their haunt."

While attending Weber State University in Ogden, Utah Draper studied Spiritualists in New Orleans and presented papers at National Anthropological conferences on cognition.

Draper has appeared as an expert on the History Channel, WB, A&E, HBO, Hallmark and HGTV. He has been featured in articles for Psychology Today, Glamour Magazine, Becker's Hospitals Review, AskMen.com, Disney's Family Fun Magazine and many guest contributions for the AP and AOL News.

Training at Fear Factory is usually in-house: this is the first time an outside expert has been invited to instruct. The session happens Tuesday the 23rd, kicking off a series of weekly workshops on acting, timing, scares, character development, improvisation, movement and general haunt theory.
