Repertory Dance Theatre is thrilled to be celebrating the 20th anniversary of Ring Around the Rose, the wiggle-friendly series of performances at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center. This season opens with the one of the most popular shows, AFRICAN DRUMS on September 9, 2017 at 11:00 am.

This year, the show will be led by WOFA Afro-Fusion, a local dancing & drumming group that explores the intersections of Pan-African and Western dance forms and cultures. These talented performers create vibrant, eye-opening performances and educational outreach activities for audience across the Salt Lake Valley.

Dancers and drummers from WOFA will perform Pan-African movement and drum beats, as well as educate the audience on the history and origin of the art form. Children will be invited on stage to play drums and learn some dance moves!

Led by Artistic Director Rosie Banchero, WOFA believes that dance is a powerful vehicle for enlivening and educating diverse groups of individuals and communities. WOFA uses dance as a means to build bridges of understanding, respect and informative dialogue between participants, audience members, communities and artists.

RDT is thrilled to showcase these talented artists through the Ring Around the Rose series and give audiences the opportunity to experience African dancing and drumming first hand.
