Thailand - a very grateful nation. Thais carefully about their history, and remember, that Russian blood flows in the veins of the royal family. This is just due to the ballet scene. After all, from the union Desnitskaya Catherine and Prince Chula Chakraponga a son, who continued the royal family. The people of Thailand to our country special treatment, so in order to tell this story, they chose Russian composer.

This was the order of the Kingdom of Thailand. The royal family, showing great interest in classical art and patron of the International Festival of Music and Dance, held annually in Bangkok, wished to see the ballet, which would be associated with the Thai national music. They turned to the theater "Kremlin Ballet" With this idea Thai impresario. Andrei Borisovich Petrov wrote a choreography, and play a few times was performed at the festival in Bangkok.

The action of the ballet takes place not only in Russia but also in Thailand. Before I began to work on a ballet score, I had to go there twice in order to get acquainted with the traditions of the national culture, folk music. For me, as probably for any other Russian musician, Thai culture has become a kind of discovery, revelation. It turned out that classical Thai music, embodied by European musical means, as it is almost non-existent. As for folk music, it was quite simple, and it was impossible to write a ballet based on it. I had to combine the features of national and European music, to get the appropriate version of the ballet. The result was such here Thai symphonic music. This is a precedent - earlier in Thailand is nothing like it was written not.

After the premiere of the ballet in Bangkok nowhere else to put, and I am very pleased that the Yekaterinburg Opera and Ballet interested in this topic. Staging the play tells the story of Vasily Medvedev Kate and Prince completely new way, so it is natural that he has created a need for new musical numbers. I agreed to fulfill these requests, and I even liked it, because it is added to the ballet breath of fresh air, he began to play with new colors.

I emphasize that in our country the ballet "Katya and the Prince of Siam" is not never walked, so that we will have a real Russian premiere.
