Irvington Town Hall Theater's Best of Film Series will present a special screening of Things To Come ("L'Avenir") on Friday, March 10 at 7:30 pm.

Now in its eighth season, the series produces film events that bring award-winning independent, documentary, foreign and classic feature films to Irvington's big screen in high definition, digital technology.

Isabelle Huppert, described by movie critics as "the world's greatest actress," stars in this wistful, funny, French-German drama written and directed by filmmaker Mia Hansen-Love. Huppert plays Nathalie, a Parisian philosophy teacher whose husband leaves her for a younger woman, whose mother dies, whose publisher won't reissue her book - and yet finds unexpected freedom in all of these losses.

Huppert won numerous nominations and Best Actress awards for her outstanding performance in the film including the National Society of Film Critics Award, New York Film Critics Circle Award, Boston Society of Film Critics Award, and Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award, as well as the London Film Critics' Circle Award for Actress of the Year.

Released in December of 2016 to rave reviews, Things To Come (Hansen-Love's fifth film) was selected to compete for the Golden Bear at the 66th Berlin International Film Festival where Hansen-Love won the Silver Bear for Best Director.

Best of Film Series chair Beth Ryan says, "In addition to the All Shorts Irvington Festival (As iFF) fall and spring events, Irvington Town Hall Theater presents full-length feature films. Things To Come is a beautifully written, insightful film showcasing Isabelle Huppert's dazzling performance. It's also a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a great story with lush cinematography in our historic theater with its Victorian chandeliers, sconces, and original elegance."

Online review site Rotten Tomatoes rated the film 100%. IndieWire's David Ehrlich writes, "With every subsequent feature, Hansen-Love makes an increasingly convincing case that she's of the best filmmakers on the planet - at her current pace, the evidence should soon be overwhelming. Things to Come is characteristically unfussy about its brilliance... There is poetry here, but all of the accidental kind that we find in our own lives."

The film is rated PG-13; running time is 100 minutes (French, with English subtitles). Seating is general admission, and all tickets are $10 (tickets are subject to processing fees and are always lower when purchased in advance online). Irvington Town Hall Theater is located at 85 Main Street in Irvington, NY. The entrance is on North Ferris Street. Visit www.irvingtontheater.com for more information.
