Theatre By The Sea announces Equity Performer Auditions (Principal/Chorus) by appointment for its Summer 2009 Season. Performers must be available for all rehearsal and performance dates. There are two Equity Principal contracts and two Equity Chorus contracts available in each show. All roles are open for the following productions:

My Way: A Musical Tribute to Frank Sinatra
Daytime rehearsals May 12 - May 24; day and evening rehearsals/performances May 25 - June 14
*Note: All four roles will be cast with members of AEA. There is no chorus in this show.
Experience with the material is a plus.
 
Crazy for You
Daytime rehearsals June 2 - June 14; day and evening rehearsals/performances June 15 - July 11
*Note: Ensemble performers must be very strong dancers who sing. Strong tap skills are essential.

Peter Pan
Daytime rehearsals June 30 - July 12; day and evening rehearsals/performances July 13 - August 8
* Note: Ensemble performers must be very strong, all around performers. Indians must be exceptional dancers.
Pirates should have a sense of character. Lost Boys must be no taller than 5'5".

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
Daytime rehearsals July 28 - August 9; day and evening rehearsals/performances August 10 - September 6
* Note: Ensemble performers must be very strong dancers who sing well.

Auditions will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2008 as follows:

9am-11am and 2-4pm Singing/Acting Auditions; 11am and 4pm Dancing Auditions; (1-2pm Lunch)

Auditions will be held at:
University of Rhode Island (URI), Fine Arts Building, Studio G, Rt. 138 and Upper College Road, Kingston, RI 02881

Equity singers/actors may call (401) 782-3800 x15 Monday-Friday ONLY after March 9, 2009 to make an appointment. No appointment necessary for dance audition.

Please bring a picture and resume stapled together. Singers/Actors should prepare one brief up-tempo song and one brief ballad. Pianist provided. Performers may be asked to attend a dance call after all have sung; bring appropriate dancewear, including tap shoes. Dancers should be warmed up and ready to dance when the call begins. Wear appropriate dancewear and have ballet, character and tap shoes. Performers may be asked to stay and sing after all have danced. Callbacks, if necessary, will be on Sunday, March 22, 2009.

ADULT AUDITIONS FOR SUMMER 2009 SEASON

Theatre By The Sea announces Open Adult Auditions for its Summer 2009 Season. Performers must be available for all rehearsal and performance dates. All roles are open for the following productions:

My Way: A Musical Tribute to Frank Sinatra
Daytime rehearsals May 12 - May 24; day and evening rehearsals/performances May 25 - June 14
*Note: All characters must have strong vocal range, true stage presence and dance ability.
Experience with the material is a plus. All four roles will be cast with members of AEA.
There is no chorus in this show, non-union understudy positions are available.

Crazy for You
Daytime rehearsals June 2 - June 14; day and evening rehearsals/performances June 15 - July 11
*Note: Ensemble performers must be very strong dancers who sing. Strong tap skills are essential.

No a cappella, tape recorders or CD players accepted. No appointments necessary (members of Actors Equity should call (401) 782-3800 x15 for an appointment time.) Doors open at 8:30am.

CHILDREN'S AUDITIONS FOR SUMMER 2009 SEASON


Theatre By The Sea announces Open Children's Auditions for its summer production of
Peter Pan directed by Gary John La Rosa. Producing Artistic Director Amiee Turner is looking for children between the ages of 8-16 years old who are 5' 4" and under to play the following roles:

Wendy: must be 5' 3" or shorter to play 11-14 years old. Very sweet but independent. Strong singer and actress, who isn't afraid to fly. Must be able to use a British accent.

Michael: must be 5' 1" or shorter to play 10-12 years old. Good singer and joyful actor, who isn't afraid to fly. Must be able to use a British accent.

John: must be 4' 10" or shorter to play 6-9 years old. Cheerful young actor, who is able to follow direction and isn't afraid to fly. Must be able to use a British accent.

The Lost Boys: should be 5'4" or under and between the ages of 10-16 years old. Looking for excellent actors willing to play and be silly, but also able to follow direction. Boys and girls are welcome to audition, however girls should note that, if cast, they will be portraying boys and might need to cut their hair.

Selected children will need to be available for all daytime rehearsals from June 30 - July 12 and all day and evening rehearsals and performances from July 13 - August 8, 2009.

Auditions will be held on Sunday, March 22, 2009 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm at:

University of Rhode Island (URI)
Fine Arts Building, Studio G
Rt. 138 and Upper College Road
Kingston, RI 02881

Those auditioning should bring a headshot or a recent photo and a resume (if available). Children should come with a short prepared song preferably with sheet music. A cappella is also acceptable. No tape recorders or CD players. Those asked to stay will learn a short dance combination.
