Entertainment industry trade Pollstar Magazine has released their 2012 mid-year ranking based on ticket sales and the Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) ranked 23rd out of the 100 top venues in a field that included theatres in major markets and other countries including Canada, Mexico, Brazil, and Germany.

PPAC presents a full roster of touring Broadway theatricals and has been the location of choice in recent years for the opening of a number of national tours; this fall, the venue will open the tours of CATCH ME IF YOU CAN in October and ELF in November; PPAC will also open the North American tour of EVITA in the fall of 2013. In addition, PPAC brings top-tier concerts, comedians, dance, and family shows to the southeastern New England market. Complete season information is available at ppacri.org

The Providence Performing Arts Center is a 3100 seat venue listed on the National Register of Historic Places; it has been fully renovated and is constantly being updated to retain its status as a world-class, state-of-the-art venue. Most recently, the street in front of the theatre has been renovated and upgraded with improved patron safety amenities and enhanced aesthetics including new stone work near the theatre façade. The location in front of the theatre was recently re-dedicated as “PPAC Square” by Providence Mayor Angel Taveras.

PPAC President J.L. “Lynn” Singleton said, “We are extremely pleased that PPAC is ranked 23rd among top venues in the world – this result demonstrates that Rhode Island is a great theatre and entertainment market.”
