Ocean State Theatre Company Hosts Auditions For its 2010 Summer By The Sea

Ocean State Theatre Company announces Equity Performer Auditions (Principal/Chorus) by appointment on Saturday, February 27, 2010 for its 2010 Summer Season at Theatre By The Sea. Performers must be available for all rehearsal and performance dates. There are four Equity Principle contracts available for A Chorus Line and Little Shop of Horrors and two Equity Principle contracts and two Equity Chorus contracts available for Hello, Dolly! and The Full Monty. All roles are open for the following productions:

A Chorus Line
Daytime rehearsals May 18 - May 30; day and evening rehearsals/performances May 31 - June 20
*Note: All roles must be professional level dancers who sing well with true stage presence.
Experience with the material is a plus. Chorus and understudies should be able to dance and sing well.
Producers are particularly interested in hiring all dancers for the opening number and understudies locally.

Hello, Dolly!
Daytime rehearsals June 8 - June 20; day and evening rehearsals/performances June 21 - July 11
*Note: Ensemble must be strong dancers with partnering skills who also sing well.
SeverAl Smaller roles will be cast from the ensemble.

Little Shop of Horrors
Daytime rehearsals June 29 - July 11; day and evening rehearsals/performances July 12 - August 1
*Note: All roles must be very strong, parts singers who can move well. Puppeteering skills are helpful.

The Full Monty
Daytime rehearsals July 20 - August 1; day and evening rehearsals/performances August 2 - August 29
*Note: Ensemble must be very strong singers who move extremely well and have "real people" looks.
SeverAl Smaller roles will be cast from the ensemble.

The schedule for Saturday, February 27, 2010, will be as follows:

9 am-11 am and 2-4 pm Singing/Acting Auditions; 11 am and 4 pm Dancing Auditions; (1-2 pm lunch)

Callbacks, if necessary, will be held on Sunday, February 28 at URI and
Thursday, March 18 and Friday, March 19 in New York City.

Equity singers/actors may call (401) 782-3800 x15 Monday-Friday ONLY after February 15, 2010 to make an appointment. No appointment necessary for dance audition.

Please bring a picture and resume stapled together. Singers/Actors should prepare one brief up-tempo song and one brief ballad. Pianist provided. Performers may be asked to attend a dance call after all have sung; bring appropriate dancewear, including tap shoes. Dancers should be warmed up and ready to dance when the call begins. Wear appropriate dancewear and have ballet and character shoes. Performers may be asked to stay and sing after all have danced. Callbacks, if necessary, will be on Sunday, February 28, 2010.

Ocean State Theatre Company announces Open Adult and Performance Intern Auditions for its 2010 Summer Season at Theatre By The Sea. Performers must be available for all rehearsal and performance dates. Interns must be currently enrolled in college and available for all four productions. Local talent is strongly encouraged to audition. All roles are open for the following productions:

A Chorus Line

Those auditioning should bring their headshot or a recent photo and resume (if available) stapled together, and be prepared to sing AND dance. Please prepare and bring sheet music for 16 bars of an up-tempo and 16 bars of a ballad. (Note that there may only be time to perform one selection.) Pianist provided. No a cappella, tape recorders or CD players accepted. No appointments necessary (members of Actors' Equity should call (401) 782-3800 x15 for an appointment time.) Doors open at 8:30 am.

SUMMER PRODUCTION OF THE FULL MONTY
AT THEATRE BY THE SEA

Ocean State Theatre Company announces Open Auditions For Boys for its 2010 summer production of The Full Monty at Theatre By The Sea. Producing Artistic Director Amiee Turner is looking for two boys between the ages of 10 - 15 years old who are 5' 4" and under with the ability to listen carefully and follow directions to play the non-singing role of Nathan. Professional theatre experience is helpful, but not mandatory.

Selected children will need to be available for all daytime rehearsals from July 20 - August 1 and
all day and evening rehearsals and performances from August 2 - August 29, 2010.

Auditions will be held on Sunday, February 28, 2010 from 12:00 - 2:00 pm at:

University of Rhode Island (URI)
Fine Arts Building, Studio G
Rt. 138 and Upper College Road
Kingston, RI 02881

Those auditioning should sign up prior to 1:00 pm to ensure adequate audition time. Bring a headshot or a recent photo and a resume (if available) stapled together. A parent or guardian will need to be present to sign release forms. The audition will consist of cold readings from the script which will be provided at the audition.
