One of Shakespeare's most popular comedies, Much Ado About Nothing is a quick-witted tale of romance, miscommunication and intrigue. A feuding couple are tricked into falling in love while a betrothed couple's relationship is in jeopardy due to the work of a deceitful rival. It all comes right in the end, but on the way we see some of the best of Shakespeare's comic characterization and wordplay. Featuring Fred Grandy (Gopher from the Love Boat and Dr. Ledreau from the Mindy Project) as Leonato Ashley Strand (Pericles-Red Bull Theatre NYC and winner of the Hong Kong International Comedy Competition, Shakespeare Theatre Company, DC) as Benedick Lyndsay Rose Kane (Chicago Theatre Credits include Stadium Devildare RedTape Theatre, Life is a Dream Vitalist Theatre, Zero and Scotland Road Oracle Theater King Lear The Brewery) as Beatrice The company features professional actors from New York, Chicago, and Wilmington. Directed by Christopher Marino(Best director- Hamlet, Best production-Macbeth Wilmington Star News. Other Wilmington productions- Beauty and Beast, and Measure for Measure) will direct. As one of our staples in the Lumina Festival of the Arts, the Cultural Arts Building Mainstage Theatre will host five performances of Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing,” with 7:30 p.m. shows each night (July 22, 25, 27, & 29) and one 2:00 p.m. matinee on July 25.
