NRACT to Present I NEVER SAW ANTHER BUTTERFULY: THE MUSICAL, 4/25-5/11
North Raleigh Arts and Creative Theatre (NRACT) will present "I Never Saw Another Butterfly: The Musical" based on the play by Celeste Raspanti, for nine performances, April 25-May 11, 2014.
"I Never Saw Another Butterfly," with book and lyrics by Joseph Robinette and music by E.A. Alexander, tells the story of the children of Terezin, a ghetto under Nazi rule during World War II, and the tireless efforts of their teacher to give their lives meaning and hope.
Director Sheila Outhwaite was inspired by the story's emphasis on the strength of mind that enables a person to bear pain or adversity with courage and determination, and that refuses to succumb to despair in the direst of circumstances.
"I hope the audience will recognize the appalling consequences that can arise when a populace is manipulated into condemning others for their beliefs, and will vow to ensure that we will never allow such atrocities to occur again," said Outhwaite.
NRACT's production of "I Never Saw Another Butterfly: The Musical" will run April 25-May 11. Performances are on Fridays and Saturdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. Evening tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for students and seniors; matinee tickets are $10.
