SunTrust Broadway at DPAC, the region's No. 1 performing arts series is also now the No. 1 one-week Broadway season ticket program in the country with over 15,000 season seat members. This signature series features over 100 touring Broadway performances each season, including the spectacular brand new production of The Phantom of the Opera, Motown the Musical, Kinky Boots, Newsies, Pippin, and many more. The new season ticket mark of 15,000 exceeds last year's total by almost 1,000 season seat members.

In addition to this new season ticket record, DPAC has also just been recognized for its economic impact in Durham. Just-released figures from the Durham Convention and Visitors Bureau report total visitor spending by DPAC guests of $66.3 million and a total economic impact of $48.4 million.

Listed four times in the top 5 in Pollstar magazine's worldwide theater attendance rankings, DPAC was most recently ranked the #3 U.S. Theater in the listing. With over 180 performances per year and an annual attendance of 375,000-425,000, DPAC has entertained over 2 million total guests since opening, including these record-setting SunTrust Broadway at DPAC events:

· 86,085 guests to the Broadway hit musical Wicked, the largest live entertainment event ever in the Triangle.

· 81,883 guests to Disney's The Lion King, the largest return engagement for a Broadway Production ever in the Triangle.

· 77,300 guests to the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, the #1 holiday event ever in North Carolina.

Bob Klaus, General Manager at DPAC, stated "This new season ticket mark guarantees that audiences here in the Triangle will continue to see the biggest and newest Broadway blockbusters every single season."

DPAC celebrated the opening of its seventh SunTrust Broadway season last night with the new hit North American tour of Dirty Dancing, which comes to Durham from its premiere at the National Theatre in Washington, DC.

About DPAC: With a mission of presenting one-of-a-kind live entertainment events, DPAC truly has "something for everyone", hosting over 180 performances a year including spectacular touring Broadway productions, high-profile concert and comedy events, family shows and the heralded American Dance Festival. Owned by the City of Durham and operated under the direction of Nederlander and Professional Facilities Management (PFM), DPAC has been listed three consecutive years as the No. 1 performing arts organization in the region by the Triangle Business Journal.
