The Arizona Broadway Theatre has announced its upcoming 2012-2013 season. The season includes OKLAHOMA!, ANNIE, HELLO DOLLY, BUDDY: THE Buddy Holly STORY, 9 TO 5, INTO THE WOODS, JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT, and THE GREAT AMERICAN TRAILER PARK MUSICAL. Full show information is as follows:

Oklahoma
October – November 2012
Rodgers and Hammerstein’s American classic was more than a hit – it was the first real phenomenon in the modern Broadway era. Oklahoma! is the story of Laurey and the two rivals for her affections: Curly, a cowboy; and Jud, the hired farmhand. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, Oklahoma! also tackles class issues between The Farmers and the cattlemen in the rugged landscape of a state in its infancy. This brilliant first collaboration of Rodgers and Hammerstein set box office records as it ushered in the Golden Age of American Musical Theatre.

Annie
November – December 2012
Winner of seven Tony Awards, Annie became a National Treasure when it debuted on Broadway in 1977 and would go on to run for nearly six years! Based on the Little Orphan Annie comic strip, Annie traces the adventures of a spunky, Depression-era orphan and her escape from an orphanage and the wicked Miss Hannigan to a new life with Daddy Warbucks. “Tomorrow” and “It’s a Hard Knock Life” are among the most popular musical numbers in this beloved show.

Hello Dolly
January – February 2013
“Some people paint, some sew. I meddle,” says Dolly Levi, the famous matchmaker, in this most engaging of musical comedies and winner of 10 Tony Awards. Dolly spends most of her time pairing others, but soon decides it’s time to settle a match for herself, which she accomplishes, but only after a ruckus at an upscale restaurant! Carol Channing, Ginger Rogers, Pearl Bailey and Ethel Merman all took on the delightful role of Dolly on the Broadway stage, and Barbra Streisand starred in the lavish film adaptation. New York City at the turn of the twentieth century never looked or sounded so good!

Buddy, The Buddy Holly Story
March 2013
The Buddy Holly Story, the world’s most successful rock ‘n’ roll musical, tells the story of Buddy Holly’s meteoric rise to become the world’s top recording artist. Originating and playing in London’s West End for over 5,000 performances, the show features over 20 of Buddy’s greatest hits, including “Peggy Sue,” “That’ll Be the Day,” “Raining in My Heart,” and “Not Fade Away.” Buddy’s life was cut short by tragedy, and his musical career spanned an all-too-brief period during the golden days of rock ‘n’ roll, but continue to live on in The Buddy Holly Story.

9 to 5
April – May 2013
Based on one of the most popular movie comedies of all time, 9 to 5 features a brand new score by seven-time Grammy Award-winner Dolly Parton that includes the blockbuster title song. Opening on Broadway in 2009, it received an unprecedented 15 Drama Desk Award nominations. Delight in the antics of Violet, the super-efficient office manager, Judy, the frazzled divorcée, and Doralee, the sexy secretary, as they turn the tables on their “sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot” of a boss, Franklin Hart, Jr.!

Into The Woods
May – June 2013
“Once upon a time…” Ever wonder what happens after happily-ever-after? A baker and his wife set off to remove a curse placed on them by a beguiling witch, and in the process find their lives interwoven with Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Jack (and his magic beans), Rapunzel, a wolf and a couple of princes as their paths cross in the woods. Bernadette Peters starred in the Tony Award-winning Broadway production of this enchanted tale of growth and self-discovery. If you think you know the stories from The Brothers Grimm, think again!

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
July – August 2013
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat tells the Biblical saga of a boy blessed with prophetic dreams, his jealous brothers, Egypt’s Pharoah, famine, forgiveness and reconciliation. Brought to vibrant life by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, this enduringly popular musical has charmed audiences around the world with its excitement, energy and engaging mix of musical styles—from county-western and calypso to pop and rock ‘n’ roll. Donny Osmond starred as Joseph both on stage and in the film version. Wrap your entire family in this glorious coat of many colors.

The Great American Trailer Park Musical
September 2013
This redneck romp through the white trash territory of Central Florida is one of the most laugh-out-loud shows you’ll ever see. When a stripper on the run comes between an agoraphobic woman and her toll-collector husband, their neighbors team up to save their friends’ marriage. It’s a show about ’80’s nostalgia, spray cheese, road kill, adultery, hysterical pregnancy, a broken electric chair, kleptomania, strippers, flan and disco… everything a musical should be!
