Theatre Artists Studio has a wide variety of programs for the 2012-2013 season, including a NEW offering: "Maybe The Next GreatPlaywright Festival!" This program will feature works by Studio member playwrights presented as stage readings over two weekends.

Here's a breakdown of currently scheduled events and dates!

Maybe the Next Great Playwright Festival

Join us for six different dates of Stage Readings featuring the work of six different Studio writers. Some full-length plays, some shorts, something for everyone! Audience feedback following each program. This is a free program. Reservations are not required; donations gratefully accepted at the door.

August 16 - 25, 2013

Becky Shaw, by Gina Gionfriddo

A newlywed couple fixes up two romantically challenged friends: Wife's best friend, meet husband's sexy and strange new co-worker. When an evening calculated to bring happiness takes a dark turn, crisis and comedy ensue in a wickedly funny play that asks what we owe the people we love and the strangers who land on our doorstep.

September 20 - October 6, 2013

Mrs. Klein, by Nicholas Wright

At the peak of her career, psychoanalyst Melanie Klein is shattered by the news that her son has died in a climbing accident. Her daughter, also a psychoanalyst who publically challenges her mother's theories, thinks he committed suicide to defy their overbearing mother. When the battle between these two women spills over into their professional lives, the childhood events which lie at the heart of the conflict are exposed.

October 25 - November 10, 2013

Cabaret, Music by John Kander, Lyrics by Fred Ebb, Book by Christopher Isherwood

Set in Berlin in 1931, Cabaret focuses on the nightlife at the seedy Kit Kat Klub and revolves around the relationship of a young English Cabaret singer, Sally Bowles, and a young American writer, Cliff Bradshaw. Overseeing the action is the Master Of Ceremonies at the club, who acts as a metaphor for the threatening rise of the Nazi regime in Germany. NOTE: The Studio will be performing a concert version of this show.

November 29 - December 15, 2013

Mary's Wedding, by Stephen Massicotte

It is the eve of Mary's wedding, but the night is full of dreams of love, dreams of war, and dreams of what might have been. A lovely, imaginative and moving play bound to touch your heart.

January 17 - February 2, 2014

The Last Romance, by Joe DiPietro

This romantic comedy by the writer of last year's hit, Over the River and Through the Woods, presents a Golden Years love story mixing laughter with opera, humor with heartbreak. It weighs the power of passion vs. the power of family ties, and in the end - the triumphant power of love!

February 28 - March 16, 2014

Frozen, by Bryony Lavery

An extraordinary play that entwines the lives of a murderer, the mother of one of his victims and his psychologist to explore our capacity for forgiveness, remorse and change after an act that would seem to rule them out entirely.

April 11 - April 27, 2014

New Summer Shorts 2014

The Studio's annual 10-minute play festival featuring works by Studio member writers.

June 12-22, 2014

All full productions will run for three weekends on Friday & Saturday nights at 7:30 pm and Sundays at 2:00 pm with the exception of New Summer Shorts, which runs for two weekends, Thursday-Sunday.
