The Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) is pleased to announce the spectacular production of the Tony Award-nominated musical Once on this Island at the Geoff Gibbs Theatre from today, 16 - 23 March 2013.

A Caribbean flavoured, non-stop song and dance spectacular, Once on this Island tells the thrilling story of a peasant girl who rescues and falls in love with a wealthy boy from the other side of her island... when he is returned to his people, the fantastical Gods who rule the island send the peasant girl on an epic quest which will test the strength of her love against the powerful forces of prejudice, hatred and death.

"Once On This Island is a magical production that draws its inspiration from The Little Mermaid story. It's a moving and beautiful tale of star-crossed lovers with an unforgettable score that will touch audiences of all ages and asks the ultimate question... what price are we willing to pay for love?" said Director Jason Langley.
