Jessica Vosk, Sally Ann Triplett, Zachary Sayle, and More Will Lead BECOMING NANCY At Alliance Theatre

The Alliance Theatre in Atlanta announced today casting for its upcoming world premiere BECOMING NANCY. Based on the best-selling British novel by Terry Ronald, this new musical is directed and choreographed by two-time Tony Award® winner Jerry Mitchell (Kinky Boots, Hairspray), with a book by Elliot Davis (Peter Pan, Loserville), and a score by the songwriting team of George Stiles (Music) and Anthony Drewe (Lyrics) (Mary Poppins, Peter Pan, Honk!). BECOMING NANCY will open the Alliance Theatre's 51st season on its newly renovated Coca-Cola Stage, September 6 - October 6, 2019. Opening Night is Wednesday, September 18.

Last weekend, a company of Broadway favorites gathered at Feinstein's/54 Below for '54 Sings One-Hit Wonders,' a concert celebrating those pop songs you can sing every lyric to but don't know anything else by that artist/group. It's been a crazy year, Dear Readers. Lots of ups, lots of downs, and LOTS of emotions. And I'm not just talking about on stage. But let's not dwell on the bad things that may have happened in the world and focus on some of the amazing things Seattle theater companies gave us this past year, and let me tell you there were quite a few. So many in fact that in some categories I simply had to call out more than the usual Honorable Mentions as some performances just needed to be noted. You'll see what I mean especially when you get to the female categories as the ladies were certainly bringing it this year.
But let's get started shall we? Out of the myriad shows I saw this year in Seattle, here are the shows and performances that truly stood out to me.

The Broadway community has been incredibly vocal in its support of Hillary Clinton as a result of some of the dangerous and discriminatory rhetoric preached by the opposing candidate.

Tonight, dozens of cast members from the national tour of Newsies will reunite on the stage of Feinstein's/54 Below with The Newsboys' Variety Show. Audiences can expect to be dazzled by a variety of musical styles, dancing, and other special talents on display.
