Lyric Fest will present an exciting program of world premieres from ten composers in The Song Catcher, a concert centered on re-imagining the folk song. The folk song is appreciated for its direct expression and narrative quality, and honors world culture as well as speaks to our shared humanity.

For Eleanor and Bonnie Whitmore, two of roots music’s most accomplished songwriter/ instrumentalist/ vocalists, the ghosts chose to appear right as Covid became entrenched — when live music evaporated and people were isolated from each other. 

Due to the surge in Covid-19 infection rates, Merrimack Repertory Theatre announced today that its upcoming production of Erma Bombeck: At Wit's End will pause after the completion of rehearsals next week, and the comedy will restart with both live and video performances on February 24. This move will cause the theatre to shift Woody Sez: The Life and Music of Woody Guthrie to June.

Gales of laughter will boost spirits in Lowell this winter when Merrimack Repertory Theatre celebrates America’s funniest Mom ever with Erma Bombeck: At Wit’s End by Allison Engel and Margaret Engel, featuring Karen MacDonald, from January 19 to February 6, according to Artistic Director Courtney Sale and Executive Director Bonnie J. Butkas.

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of one of the most iconic songs and album ever this year, McLean will entertain fans across the continent throughout nearly 30 cities from Honolulu to Toronto and everything in between, proving that “bye-bye, Miss American Pie” will forever remain a classic staple in American music.

The concert will also be live-streamed and available on-demand. The program will include Hebrew, Sephardic and Yiddish Chanukkah Songs, Medieval and Renaissance Christmas Motets and Carols; new works by Gerald Cohen and Yehezkel Braun; and new arrangements of songs by Peter Yarrow, Woody Guthrie and Béla Fleck.
