BWW Reviews: YELLOW FACE at Center House Theatre Suffers Too Much Message

If a play or the message of a play is important or affecting, as is the case with David Henry Hwang's "Yellow Face", currently playing at the Center House Theatre from React Theatre and Pork Filled Players, there is always the danger of the actors in the play to over intensify the work rather than letting it stand on its own. And while the current production at the Center House Theatre definitely has some wonderful moments and great laughs along for the ride, it unfortunately suffers from this problem as the message feels forced and long winded rather than meaningful.

The Palace Theatre opened its doors 85 years ago this June 2nd under the direction of Stamford resident Mary Vuono who owned and operated the theater as a vaudeville and motion-picture house in 1927. BWW Reviews: Fresno Comes Alive With THE SOUND OF MUSIC

Audience members laughed and smiled as if they had never before seen Rodgers and Hammerstein's "The Sound of Music" at Saturday night's Roger Rocka's Dinner Theater performance of the classic musical. Such fresh enjoyment testifies to the quality of a show so often done - one that seems to be popping up everywhere this year and next. Despite a few glitches one might expect from community theater, Roger Rocka's talented cast and crew gave a consistently strong two and a half hours of solid entertainment.
